Sorry, I don't really know much of anything about Buddhism or Hinduism or a great many religions other than Christianity. My point was that even if you agree with Pascal's Wager and live a good life as a Christian, there is still the possibility that you picked the wrong religion and get to suffer for eternity anyway.

Edit: This was supposed to be a reply to theemporer.

No, i'm a atheist, godless and free.
You say that like those who have a religious faith aren't "Free"
A lot of them are not, they have to spend time ass kissing whatever deity they choose to believe in so as to not be condemned to whatever their preferred afterlife is. Seems somewhat restrictive and imprisoning to me.

Plus teaching that kind of thing to young children to literally scare them into obedience is just sickening on so many levels and a lot of religions do drum it into the children young.

Don't get me wrong though if people want to believe in their chosen deity then that is fine I can respect that people have different beliefs. Its just the way kids are treated that really irks me.

Not religious. Naturalist. As for why, religions theories just seem silly and unnecessary.
You mean naturalist like nature worship, or naturalist like the scientific principle of methodological naturalism? o_O
Methodological naturalism

I started out with no opinion on religion, pick up a light contempt for organized faiths from my mother, laer softened my position somewhat, after having met a number of nice people of faith, and have since become more firmy atheistic. This hasn't meant I no longer like my theistic friends, jusat that I think they are wrong about something, or at the very least accepting seriously substandard evidence for something very important, being how one ought to live one's life.

Could I be convinced to become a theist? Maybe. But I'd need arguments and evidence that weren't as unconvincing and unsupportable as what I've been seeing.

No. I am an Atheist. I do not believe in god, hence i am not religious, because i have not found sufficient evidence for his existance.

Yup, I'm a Buddhist. Or to word it better, I follow some of their principals, values and go to a temple/house most Sundays.

Watch and learn.
The only problem with that is that he avoids all the issues with comedy so it would never stand up again a real debater for Christianity. However, there is a documentary called "The Atheism Tapes" on netflix you might be interested in.

To a point. I AM Catholic, but I don't feel guilty all the time. Also, I came to the conclusion that if you already decided that god exists (I did), then you don't need to re-affirm your belief with mass.

Yes, I'd consider myself among the Christian faithful.

I do not believe in the church due to its strong corporate tendencies. I do believe in God, the stories and teachings of the bible along with the messages they convey. I don't feel like believing in the specifics or even truth of the bible is necessary, but rather it's important to use the morals and examples set by them in your everyday life.

Indeed I am, Lutheran here and proud to be one. I also find it fun that for some reason the internet seems to have no idea what a Lutheran is, even if they could recite the life of Martin Luther like it was the Hungry Caterpillar.

I've tried to be an atheist, just doesn't sit right with me. A mix of personal experiences and an outlook on the world makes me simply unable to accept that a world this beautiful and with so much potential is as pointless and mundane as people like Richard Dawkins (whom I do not consider to be the average atheist, mind you.) would insist on me believing.

I'm not a fan of heavy-handed preaching on either side, but with atheists it bothers me more. When religious people are trying to convert you at least they have the motivation (in most cases) of wanting you to have eternal joy/peace/etc. When an atheist does it, it feels to me like their sole goal is to suck all the magic out of the world for you.
Thank you!! You summed up exactly what I was thinking. When a religious person tries to convert you they have some good intentions and as long as they don't pull out the your "going to hell card!" it really doesn't bug me. When atheist does it they... well... come off as a doucebag for lack of better words because they're basically saying your a complete idiot or grow up god isn't real. Now I'm not saying that atheists are doucebags but that''s how a lot of them come off when they start insulting religion or even worse ppl who believe in religion. I'm orthodox anyways

Why is agnostic on the poll? Are you religious is a yes or no question, agnosticism doesn't factor in to it. Come to think of it neither does atheism isn't the right word either a religion doesn't necessarily need gods.

The question you are looking for is "Do you believe in gods"

Anyway I'm athiest agnostic: I don't believe in gods (athiest), but I also know my belifes can't be objectivly proven (agnostic).

Well, this is a question I could probably answer by writing an Essay of 6 or 7 pages thick, but I will try my best to keep it short.

I think I am religious, I like to think that there's someone or something that made us, maybe not literally like it is said in the bible. I don't believe in the bible, since it was written by a bunch of Pre-Medival men, they are human and the bible was translated so many times it could have been easily mistranslated or some of it lost in the ages. I like some of the ideas in the bible, and the example of Jesus, but I won't defend it like some crazy cul-de-sac crusader.

I like to think that there is this higher force or a being that watches over us and protects us, but I don't know what it looks like or what he/she is like.

And before I get hit by the shitstorms of atheists and theists alike, let me just tell you :

You are both probably wrong, and you will probably never know the truth. Deal. With. It.

My parents are Christian and I went to Catholic school {unmolested, thank you very much}. But now that I'm older and not constantly brainwashed by teachers, nuns, and priest, I'm smart enough to know that you really shouldn't take the bible seriously.

Don't get me wrong, I still believe in God and all, but I think that too many of my fellow Christians ruin the religion for me.

1st, there are the stereotypical "Jesus Freaks" who are against homosexuality, drinking, mind poisoning rock n' roll, etc. Those people drive me crazy.

2nd, the child molestations. Need I say more?

3rd, people who take the bible literally. Even as a child, I assumed that the stories weren't entirely true. I thought that they were just made up to teach us to be selfless and help other and be good. When I told that to my teacher, I was scolded. Also, I believe in evolution, not only because of the vast ammount of proof, but because I had already assumed as a child that the story of Adam and Eve was just that; a story.

4th, the Christians who are against gay marrage, but get divorces. Accourding to their logic, both are horrible sins against God.

5th, my own personal belief is to live and let live. If someone I know doesn't believe in my God, then I could care less. I don't discriminate against them. So, many of my friends are Athiests, Jewish, Agnostic, and so on. But according to my religion, I will go to heaven for believing in Jesus while my friends, who are wonderful people, will burn in eternal hellfire for not accepting Christ. For a God who's supposed to love everybody, that just doesn't sound right.

So that's my spiel.
