If you want art watch the mens half pipe. When Shawn White pulled off that double Mctwist it was the closest thing ive seen to art in any sport. (when you also consider the fact he is going about 20 feet into the air and pulling about 4 g's when he lands, and then goes straight into his next hit). I find figure skating quite lacking because there is no risk. Sure its has some artistic movements but it has nothing on the men's aerials. Where a person can do unbelievable feats mid air (3 flips and a 1540 for an example). That is art.BlindMessiah94 said:Good point! I suppose they always were this way. I'm not much for competition. I don't see the point in seeing who's country is better at shooting a gun at a target, then cross country skiing? Seems pointless.Klepa said:I apologize for my cynicism, but when were they anything else, and isn't that the whole point of competition?BlindMessiah94 said:I just feel like all the Hockey and Racing type sports have turned into one giant "who's country's penis is bigger" contest, and I can't be bothered to watch.
Still I prefer the stuff like figure skating where there is an element of art involved. I've never watched those and thought "Oh yay my country is 'winning'." I've always simply cheered for whoever had the most moving performance, regardless of country. I would feel fine watching that even without the pretense of a competition.
and you will fume some more after the gold medal game. Ryan Miller is a god, and Brian Rafalski will end up knocking "sid the kid" on his ass the whole game.Lullabye said:I'm pretty sure Singapore is located elsewhere.wax88 said:was my country even in vancouver?
Canada-Still fuming over the loss to America. Retribution is coming, you mark my words.
Oh I never said they don't play with heart! Every athlete in the olympics trains for years to get a chance to compete, and I support them fully! What I was talking about was the art form involved in some of the other events as opposed to stuff like hockeyOldmanwillow said:If you want art watch the mens half pipe. Why give hockey and racing a bad rap. isnt it interesting to watch someone going 70-80 MPH (110-120KMH) with out an engine. that requires so much balance and courage that most people simply cannot even conceive of it. If you dont like team sports i can understand why you could say i dont like hockey. But to say that they dont play with heart is dead wrong. you should of watch the USA canada game. Their was more heart in that game than anything else you will see this olympics.
Also. GO TEAM USA BEAT FINLAND THEN BEAT CANADA. let them cry in their beer so more.
