I think we all absorb bits and pieces from numerous things, especially from people we like or somehow relate to a bit.
This consists music artists, movie actors, friends, video game reviewers and all the like.
You may find yourself talking or acting in certain situations like one of them. I don't see that as copying nor using, I see that as normal behaviour we people do.
Maybe people are using similar style like Yahtzee's here and there a bit, but some people just recognize is at "copying" Yahtzee. If they find that way to be easier to make out a review (by imitating), by all means do it that way.

The way I see it, is not even Yahtzee is being completely original in his " style" I can thing of ALOT of celebrity/comedians etc who were near identical...that being said I think he, like the few other ones who could make a living off that style, sound natural and can run with it.

I've seen ALOT of kids, and some younger adults try to mimic him a fault..the biggest issue is that it comes out too fake sounding, and forced.

But this is natural...I see alot of guys trying to act like a Rogue ( gambit, Han Solo, Indiana jones, etc) and they just come across as complete morons, or jerks, or awkward...

then again those who naturally have the mindset, and skill to pull it off, can knock any woman out with a good lopsided cocky grin...but they understand the art to it...( trust me guys, it's one of those, if you have that skill naturally, awesome...if you don't, don't bother trying..it will end badly"

so to sum it all up:

Everyone emulates, and imitates something, or someone.. just please if you don't naturally have it, don't bother

If I get really worked up about something, a huge tirade of Yahtzee-esque abuse can seep forth; but this was happening before I'd heard of him (and, as a result, discovered these forums).
But as a rule, no I don't try and channel him. I like to think I have at least some originality (but that is, of course, up for debate...)

I think there should be more than the two options in the poll. Things are rarely that clear cut.

I somewhat understand.. You can't look up a forum concerning Vin Diesel without someone mentioning fornication. I love and respect Yahtzee, his points are valid and with reason, but when people sight these quotes randomly, most likely for attention, it gets annoying. That is his line, leave it alone
XD

Yes, a lot of the people here try to be Yahtzee in their reviews, or are heavily influenced by him. First thing I noticed when I came to these forums a while ago.

Your about the 5th person to try to explain WHY. But I'm not asking why. I understand why Yahtzee FITS in. He fits in with video game geeks about as well as Vin Diesel fits in with "street racers". The whys and hows are not what im confused about. I went over the "fits into the group" mentality over and over since i started going to public school. Explaining such a thing is almost a cliche now. We all know why Teen girls like Twilight and MTV. We know why guys who made a game winning tackle in highschool football one year push their kids so hard into sports. We know these things, and just like any cynical bastard, we mock these people as much as they mock us. If a person is wise enough to understand the WHY, It's always been my belief that they should be wise enough to know when a group of people understands it to. And if theres any "click" of people out there with more free time to ball these things over in their minds, it would seem to be the game geeks wouldnt it?

Yahtzee is a good thing, but the poll question is the simplest, best way to sum up what im saying. Forget the whys and all the intellectual marathons. Is he mimicked by many? And does it tend to lean toward the negative side?
