I've played as all of them and my favorite is a tie between Breton and Dark Elf.

Nords = Tall dwarves. Dwarves = awesome. Tall = Awesome. Tall x Dwarf = goddamn amazing.
Also: Technically orcs are an elf subrace in Elder scrolls.

In Oblivion I like being a Mage, born under The Mage, as a High Elf. That way I get a crap load of magicka. Then later with an Alchemy Skill of 100 I can make Restore Magicka Potions out of Flax Seed, carry about a hundred with me, and functionally have infinite magicka.

For some reason I think High Elves are cool, too. But an elf shouldn't be tall, imo.

Redguard. I made a crusader red guard which you may say is stupid, but its rather genius. It has the fury when you need it, can keep training with each weapon and no matter what type of offensive weapon is good, and level grow higher because of the magic use, which the redguard isn't good at so more room for expansion since each magic skill is at 25 base. Restoration is a ***** to increase after 70 tho.

From the outside it seems like a great ability... then you realize you could just get the ring of ramera immidetaly after exiting the sewers if you wanted.

I found that in Morrowind, my strongest character was a Breton. Gave him The Atronach birthsign and later on in the game when you get all those snazzy items you'll find yourself completely immune to magic. Seriously, I found that after completing the Mages Guild, I absorbed 75% of magic shot at me and the other 25% did half damage anyway because Breton's resist magicka.

Combine that with the Daedric armor that you would inevitably get and you have an unkillable character.

If I posted my preference here, I'd probably be burned alive due to the unpleasant connotations the race carries with it. Looking at the results, though, I'm surprised it's as popular as it is. (Thus far, anyway.)
