I wouldn't say it needs it, but having seen a gameplay video, it looks like it could, potentially, be quite good. As long as they don't sacrifice the single player story for it.
What story?
Ahaha. Ha. So funny I forgot to laugh.
Fine, the single player gameplay then. Happy?

well it doesn't need multiplayer but it would be good to have it.Kind of like saying fallout needs a multiplayer. I saw the demo and does it really have to be 3 hours for a single match

[edit] it would also be a problem if you killed your target and the person after you was at the other side of the map and you wouldn't have to run away

From what I've seen of the multiplayer it looks like it is going to be a solid part of the game. But I also anticipate that it is going to go down like GTA4's...it's there but nobody plays it because they are engaged in the story more than the multiplayer

From what I've seen it looks like it gets real boring real soon. Yeah, I'm sceptic, but I like to see where it goes. As to the question whether or not it needs multiplayer the answer is simple: no. Assassin's Creed worked well as a singleplayer experience.

No. It certainly does not need it. There is nothing wrong with a single player game. The sooner developers realise that the better.

But as long as it doesn't have multiplayer achievements, we should be okay. I said with a laugh.

Ugh, I thought the multiplayer vid looked awful to be honest.

Yet another good single player game about to suffer from the trend of tacked-on multi.

It doesn't actually need multiplayer per se, but it could help extend the game's lifespan. And yes, I have seen the multiplayer demo of AssCreed Brotherhood, and I admit it looks interesting enough to try. But I also believe that some games are just made for multiplayer, although I don't know yet whether AssCreed falls under that category.

Yes, there are, from a marketing point of view - there are far more singleplayer games on the used-market than multiplayer.

The latter has yet to be proven. If I recall correctly, it's usually 2 separate teams that make the single-player and multi-player component of a game, hence I can barely see any reason why the single-player part would suffer from a tacked on multi. It's another matter entirely if it's the same team and development time for the multi would be taken away from the single-player, but I don't think that's the case.

In any case, the multi-player is made by the same team who made the amazing multi-player for Splinter Cell, another famous single-player game no one would think could have a good multi. They were proved wrong. That makes me optimistic for AC:B's multi.

some people threw a fit when splinter cell introduced milti player and then they played it and there minds were blown. If this is done well I think it will have a similar reaction.
