So i'm quite excited about the new AC for this year and quite wait to plunder the Caribbean. Having said that I do hope they make the key assassinations more open and free like the first game rather than the set piece kills and chases that have become more prevalent over the series.

But that is not the topic. I'm interested in knowing what you think you'll spend most of your time doing in the Caribbean, be it plunder the Spanish treasure fleets, exploring the uncharted isles, hunt the elusive white whale, raid the ancient Mayan tombs or go diving to pillage the lost wrecks (or that last ship you 'accidently' sunk).

Bearing in mind I don't believe these are all the activities you can do I'm hoping they have a mechanic where you can raid towns or just go to harbour and get absolutely smashed with your crew on the seafront.

For me probably hunting whales as i liked the hunting in the last game and I hope you can hunt other animals as well on both land and sea. Also diving for sunken treasure I think it would be really fun (and maybe have a drink of tea on the seabed).

SO escapists what do you think you will be doing most outside the main quest? Also is there any activity you hope makes an appearance or returns (like fight club)?

Note: the activities mentioned are ones that have been discussed in articles after the announcement of the game I do not have any idea what will or will not make the final game.

A whole lot of ship boarding hopefully.

I just want them to take how they did it in AC3, make more player controlled and not so scripted, and let players run with it.

I am liking the look of this game because I am from Florida and there are many carribean islands and influences in this state's culture. But none of the AC games have ever been great games to me, they have always been good but always fallen short of greatness.

Not assassinating people, that's for sure.

But in all seriousness, the ship to ship combat is probably what I'm going to spend most of my time doing. I remember watching the e3 coverage of AC3 and when it showed the ship combat, I was more excited for that then the rest of the game.

I reckon it'll be the ship-to-ship combat I'll be doing the most of. While a lot of the stuff in Black Flag look impressive - the exploration and underwater missions have also really peaked my interest - the naval combat is a massive draw for me purely for just how good that was in Assassin's Creed III. I do hope the boarding and such is made a bit more fluid and player-controllable though, that'd be just perfect.

The fact that "Assassinating" isn't among the options concerns me.
However, exploration is quite enticing.
Ditto.

Why name a game Assassin's Creed when you don't really have assassinations any more? Still sounds like an awesome pirate action game.

I'll be running along the tops of ships wondering what would be the most elaborate and funnest way to jump down and kill someone while being close enough to a ships side to jump over and wait for a crewman to run over see what happened then stab him throw him over board jump back in and act like nothing ever happened as the whole crew is now dead thanks to my ships people.

Justified, because the ship-to-ship combat really was the best part of AC3.

If the mayan tombs are anything like the Romulan dungeons or the mini levels to acquire seals to get Altairs armor, then I will be all over those. I miss the side quests with depth.

I don't really get it, I hear AC3 got a load of flak for being generally bland and the sailing stuff was the only exceptional part and oops lol random pirate AC game out of nowhere. Uh what? Was that planned or did they just immediately decide to run with the sailing because people liked it over the rest of the game?

I never bothered with AC3 because it got too many mixed reviews and I don't want to inflict further harm unto my horrendous backlog without good reason.

I might buy Black Flag but I will wait until everyone else has made their minds up over whether it was good or not first.

Why choose?
But seriously, I'm just genuinely excited that we're finally getting what looks to be a quality pirate game, and one that happens to be part of one of my favorite IPs this gen! I chance to sail the meditation sea plunderin' and pillagin' and most importantly, being able to use the phrase "scurvy dog" unironically!

No doubt pouring over overly-complicated and inane menus that have been prioritised over the shit you actually want to play.

And tutorials. So many fucking tutorials.

I play it for the story primarily, but I also look forward to exploring the isles. It looks like they're merging Far Cry with Assassin's Creed. I have no problem with that.
