Birth signs? Maybe, but I might be biased because I'm a textbook case of mine and I know people who act like their sign, both regular and Chinese.

But telling the future?

Garbage

Complete load. There is no plausible mechanism, and has been shown not to work on multiple, multiple occasions. That it is still taken seriously, and is in every Newspaper is a travesty.

Well, it can predict tide patterns so why not ey?
The tides are controlled by the sun and the moon.

Astrology deals more with the positions of planets, and the apparent positions of the stars in the sky. Supposedly these have a as of yet not understood effect on people. Check out this wiki article to learn more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrology

A huge waste of time. Nothing can be predicted by looking at balls of fire, some of which have burnt out many years ago.

Look up the works of Mr Bertram Forer, I'm on his side. And for those interested, yes, he was mentioned on the Big Bang Theory.

I've noticed it sometimes guesses me correct, its something like 2/3 which is fairly good if you ask me. I wouldn't place money on it or anything, but its interesting to check out every once and a while.

Out of the billions of people in the world, statistically, some of them are going to fit into the description that their astrological sign says they should.

It's the same deal with "psychics." thousands of them making thousands of predictions, eventually one of them is going to be right

Yeah, it's a big waste of time, but I see people that are obsessed. It will say a whole bunch of crap that doesn't apply to them, but then they see "You would like it if someone gave you a bunch of free money" and they think "Holy crap this thing is real!"

well yeah sure. it makes perfect sense. The arrangements of the stars, like the sun, but so far away that they are only a glimmer (and for a neat fact, some stars we see might have already died and turned into another black hole), emit waves that affect us in our day to day things...
yeah... sure...
now let me ask you, is your friend with us right now?

Except the plague.....
The Black Plague was indeed horrible, but it's result helped shape Europe into what it is today. While Astrology remains stupid pointless mystic guessing today...

Horoscopes are BS.

But people more often than not tend to, to put it in simple terms, "act like their sign".

I myself am a Pisces, and my personality fits the bill 100%, other Pisces I know also fit the trend, most not 100% of course.

Just what I have observed over the years.

I think the knowledge of it that exists is incomplete, but I think there's merit to the theory that people's moods are heavily affected by changes in interplanetary gravitational pulls, and based on that it's possible that when you're born, the galactic pull of gravity felt by you as a newborn infant (the most impressionable stage of development for human life) can have significant effects on one's temperament, intellect, and social skills. Although horoscopes are mostly bullshit, most of the Scorpios I know share a lot of very specific traits with me, to say nothing of similar "coincidences" with personality traits and date of birth I've seen among tons of my friends and family.

Fun fact: The doctor that pulled you out of the womb had a greater gravitational impact than Jupiter or any of the planets did.
