Based on the information we have the best guess would be the Big Sister but hopefully they'll throw in some more surprises and we'll have to face someone even scarier.

I'm holding out for Suchong's preserved brain inside a giant robot scorpion with a flamethrower on one pincer, a tesla cannon on the other and a tail ending in a man's upper body instead of a stinger. The man has a rocket launcher and can shoot bees out of his hands.

I'm not optimistic.

I want that done with my avatar, that would be EPIC!
But for B2.......uuuumm, OOH! I just remembered!
In the bad ending, Jack and the Splicers (that sounds like a good name for a band)
steal what I think is nuclear....."stuff", so what if in the next game they have nuclear weapons!

I don't see why they would give us the final boss on the front of magazine covers. It has to be someone new and original. Big Grandpa maybe! Ooohhh!

It will be some unnamed dude.

Why is BioShock 2 even in development? BioShock was great, but was a stand alone game with no jumping off point for a sequal. Plus, the developers appear to have lost there motivation. Big Daddies were cool, but Big Sisters? That is as generic as Saturday morning caroon heroes who merge there powers at the last second just to add "epicness" to the fight. I have no high hopes for BioShock 2.
I think BioShock will do better as a series, I dont know why, but I think it will. And also "generic as saturday morning cartoon heroes?" Big sisters follows the mythos of bioshock and I think it will be cool.
On a side note: Did not notice I was getting into a debate with the same person on two different topics at the same time.

To respond to quote: The Big Sisters appear to be an attempt to add "epicness" or scale to the atmosphere of the story. If they wanted to add a new enemy type that was stronger then the Big Daddy, fine. But taking the two icons of the first game and morphing them into this, thing, they are trying to add a grand scale by improving the abilitites of characters we already know. You can't just take an established character or enemy and simply add a massive power boost. You need to pace it propery. It sounds like they are just going to throw this thing out from the middle of nowhere and expect us to say "Wow! I didn't know Big Daddies and Little Sisters could be that cool." because they are taking advantage of an established connection to pull less creativity out of there ass without getting called out on it. I HIGHLY doubt the Big Sister's creation was to add something to the story. if it was, I would be less harsh, but I bet they will force the story to accept the Big Sister, rather then having the story create the Big Sister.

I think a Creepy Uncle would go over well.

They could have been more creative while making this game, but how could they, they couldn't just throw anything together, it has to follow the plot of the game. What would you do if you have of made a second bioshock? And what is the other topic we are having a debate in?
Single Player DLC

If you can't add creativity to an IP, don't continue it. Simple. The Half-Life series is not one I really admire, but one think I highley respect it for is that is does not fall into this trap. It adds enemies, strengthens exsisting characters, and properly paces the story without any "SUPER GENARIC CARTOON POWER-BOOST GO!!!" moments or ruining the story or atmosphere. Plus it can continue without feeling like something a corporate exec ordered to buy himself another house.

Well, according to the story, for some technical reason I cannot recall, females made bad Big Daddies. So they stuck to males. They wanted females, since they could be more flexible and agile, but made do with what they had. And I understand why the second generation of Big Daddy was not given plasmids - since plasmids can lead to cellular instability and mental breaks.

So in this instance, someone figured out how to overcome that scientific obstacle. Which means that Tennenbaum, or someone who had studied under Suchong and Ryan. Or someone who came along later, and after exploring Rapture and all its research, figured out how to pervert the science to their own ends. It's probably the latter because Tennenbaum appeared to be somewhat remorseful for what she had caused, and was seeking penance by sending Jack to deal with it, and the other two died trying to hold onto their own secrets.

Seriously, if it was someone with few morals who just came along and found Rapture, and then turned it to his/her own ends, that would be cause for huge concern. Maybe someone in RYAN INDUSTRIES or FONTAINE'S FUTURISTICS on land who followed clues to their boss' whereabouts. I mean, both Andrew Ryan and Fontaine still maintained connections to the outside world.

Okay than. I don't know how to continue this argument, so we'll just finish here till someone else has something to say, because I don't right now, but that doesn't mean I still don't disagree with you.
Let's just agree too disagree. :)

I felt that Suchong got off too lightly. He was the worst of the bunch and while his death was totally fitting and amusing in a really morbid sort of way, I did feel a bit cheated that a Bouncer got there first.
Who knows? Given the audio diary you find near what was left of Suchong, along with the fact that you're apparently the first Big Daddy, maybe it was really the main character from Bioshock 2 that did Suchong in

Well, it's deffinantly not Jack 'cos in the bad ending he ODs on drugs and in the good ending he turns into a grandpa.
true but that was years and years after this is only ten years later whos not to say he dont come back i dunno it might be him it might not be i think the dev team is gonna pull something outrageous to say the least
He's not gonna come back because of his accelerated growth. He went from a baby to adult in like 2 years didn't he?

I could seriously see Tenenbaum as the final boss, but I think it's more likely to be a new person pulling strings.

i really dislike threads like these that are based on exaggerated speculation. they bring absolutely nothing new, and i am quite frankly both appalled and amazed that so many people have actually chosen to participate here.

but then, with the world being what it is today, perhaps i am overestimating people.

Ooh... good point!

There there, theking. We 30-odd posters like Bioshock and we like talking about Bioshock-related things. That's no reason to collapse into such a pit of overwhelming despair, surely?

Tennembaum, of coures! you have to take revenge on the guy from the first game! Otherwise, you'll end up with something crappy, like The Godfather, Parts 2&3.
