Poll: Attention Idiots on Playstation

I bought a Playstation 3 about 8 months ago and I have been enjoying it a lot except for one thing. I get these stupid spam and chain messages from people I dont even know every day that read like "We here at Playstation would like to thank you for supporting our company. We would like to reward you with $200 in your Playstation account. All you have to do is send this message to everyone on your friends list and you will receive your reward." If Playstation was 100% serious about this wouldn't they just send that message to everyone and not require people to send it to other people? The one that really get me mad are ones that start out with, "Hi, I'm Kevin Butler.....". Do people not realize that KB isn't a real people but an actor who in no way owns any part of the company?
So I thought I would ask other people to see if they are getting as much spam as me.

Your username might be eye catching too for users. No-one pays attention to a JackandCalumon on the PSN.

I've had a message like that before but it was like 2 years ago. I've not been online on my PS3 in about a year so I wouldn't be surprised to log in and find a couple more.

I have only gotten stuff like that once and it was from a kid who was forwarding a chain letter for a fake black-ops product key. Like anything else, PC, E-Mail, XBL, the amount of spam you get is only proportional to how well you know to avoid it. If you are getting spam it's your own fault.

OT - I've never gotten spam on my PS3 or my Xbox, nor on any gaming platform on my PC (steam etc).

I have never got spam on my current email account.

Says a lot about you and your use of your address.

Since it's only "corporate" spam, such as Paypal, eBay, Atlus (whoever heads their marketing department is hilarious), and the Escapist, I'd say you're right.

I've had my XBL account for two years now, and can hand-on-heart say I have only ever gotten three of these messages. Three. In two years.

I've just jinxed myself, haven't I...

I got 10 times as much on xbox as on ps3, but I guess its just luck really. Get better friends, or delete the culprits.

It's not all perfect in PC-land though. You might not get stupid Playstation spam, but you have to put up with developers shitting on you.

I've had a PS3 for about four years and I've only had things like that happen a handful of times.

Seriously, I can probably count the number of times that I've gotten pointless spam on one hand.

No, I never signed up for anything. I just get people who were on my friends list and people who I never met before online send me private messages in the for of spam.

@believer I am well aware it is a scam. I was just wondering how people could even believe that shit.
