Heard it from a friend that axe was: "the scent of date rape", personally I don't have an opinion on this, what does everyone here think?

You know, you can edit your original thread instead of making it entirely again.
OT: I have no idea what that is.
And I'm pretty sure the scent of date rape is the is odour of tears and other bodily fluids combined. (And I would know this from experience. Hahahahahaha no.)

op's friend paraphrased: axe wearers are bros and rape women.

How I would change that up: people who wear excessive axe or any other body spray are not only covering the wearer's lack of personal hygiene, but also their shame.

Many need to put on a facade of 'manly douchebaggery' style to feel cool. Sadly girls are now brought up to think that such a style surrounds their ideal mate and that when the man treats them like a slut, they are a successful girl.

Pitiful, but true observations nonetheless.

This brings to mind some interesting issues. Rohipnol (roofies) is the quintessential date rape drug. Yet, I know (dont ask me how) that Xanax (and a variety of other drugs) can achieve the same effect, as can simply excessive amounts of alcohol. Yet, I've known people that will publically discuss with zeal about how they have bars of xanax and yes, let's take them, do you want some, how about him/her do they want some? And, never does "date rape" get brought up. But, I mention that I am curious about GHB and I get "OMG that's a date rape drug, WTF? Are you going to date rape yourself?!" And these same people discuss taking extacyt with innocent glee. And, again as I understand it GHB and exctacy can have some of the same effects.

TL:DL version- Dont get caught up with the meer perseption that something is or isnt associated with "date rape". People are mostly stupid sheep that have no real idea what they are talking about.
I'd say it's the same reason Mono has a reputation as the kissing disease; sure, there are other ways to get mono, and it's actually pretty darned contagious. But nine times out of ten, if you've got it, you got it from kissing someone. GHB vs. Zanax is the same thing; they may have similar effects, but one is easily slipped into a drink, while the other is an expensive prescription drug that people like to take recreationally.

As for axe, the guy who said it's the scent of teenage desperation had it right. The stuff just smells nasty, kind of like most "masculine" scents, come to think of it -- growing up, it took me forever to find a brand of deodorant that didn't make me want to gag, let alone any women in a 10 foot radius. A lot of the scents are milder these days, something I at least am thankful for; if I wanted to smell like sweat and gasoline, I'd cut out the middle man and mow the lawn. Also, someone posted the following video in yet another repeat of this thread; it pretty much says it all.

I used to wear Lynx (What us brits call this "Axe" that you speak of) when I was about 13... I use varying FCUK deodorants now and aftershave if I am going out.

Trouble with Lynx and similar deodorants, is kids hit about 13 and don't realise that the recommended dose is NOT half a can.
