Poll: Babys with pierced ears. Weird or perfectly normal?

For those of you saying that it's wrong/bad/stupid because they don't have a say in it really need to think about what they just said for a moment. If you don't get it, they also don't have a say in what they wear, do, etc. So...

If it's up to the parent to do these things, why should it be any different? If the child doesn't want to wear them when they become old enough, they can remove them and not wear them. Until that point, a baby is essentially a real life dress up doll that poops itself and requires feeding and actual taking care of.

I did get my ears pierced when I was about five, which is quite young, but on a baby, as in a human that's less than a year old is just... weird.

It's weird, you know it's wrong but you can't look away.
I think it's quite ludicrous really when children under the age of about 3/4 have piercings, the child isn't really old enough to decide it wants them done, so it's fairly obvious that it's an attempt by the mother (Yes it's always the mother and i've seen them do it to a 2 year old son as well) to make their child look like a whore.
I don't know about across the pond, but generally in sunny ol' England, if you see a child with pierced ears you know it's pikey as fuck.

The pharmacy I work in does ear piercing, so I often see people bringing in babies to get their ears pierced. It's annoying, the poor baby gets scared, then it's in pain. Plus it's hard to the person doing the piercing, as the kid usually wriggles a lot. The pharmacist in charge views it as a kind of child abuse, doing that to your kid when they may not want to. That, and it's impractical. Toddlers are quite likely to rip earrings out.

I find them very strange on little babies, mostly because they just look odd, and they didn't decide to do it, it was forced by some fucktard of a mother.

I don't feel awkward I just feel annoyed. But I feel annoyed whether its ears are pierced or not. I just know that any second it could start making a horrible noise or start vomiting or making a smell. Pierced ears are the least of my concerns.

First off, I'd like to apologise in advance if this thread has been done before. But I couldn't find it.

Now, I've seen this kind of thing at work a couple of times and it still something I'm not quite okay with. Is it just me, or is having a child that young with bits of metal hanging from their heads a bit unpleasant? I mean, we're not just talking studs here, I've seen proper dangly earrings that even Pat Butcher would find a bit flashy. And it seems to be a certain type of parent with these kids too. I think you can guess, track suits, cheap bling, in need of a good wash...

So, am I on my own here? Or are there other people who want to say something but dare not?

People like that usualy treat there baby like a pet or an ecsessory. The only reason they have there baby's ears pierced is so that they themselves look cool.

I don't feel 'weird' but I do think it's wrong. That kind of thing should be left for when the child is able to decide for themselves.

I think its a little bit of both. On one hand, seeing a baby sitting in their parent's arms drinking out of a baby bottle with a diamond stud in their ear looks rather odd and low class. On the other hand, seeing as almost everyone (women anyways) have pierced ears, maybe its better to get it early on when you don't remember the pain as opposed to later. I've heard that the use of "guns" helps reduce the pain to a quick pinch though, so maybe that's a moot point too. I'm a man and don't have pierced ears because an earring would look as good and natural on me as a belly shirt looks on a woman who weighs 200 pounds.
