quote one paragraph as:
"Rob Manuel of B3ta.com, a British website founded on similar, albeit more whimsical lines, says 4chan's success has been founded on turning "trolling" - essentially, annoying other internet users - into an art form."
Last line should have been:
into a art form.
Er, nope. You do know that, if the letter "a" immediately precedes another vowel in a sentence, it is replaced with "an", right?

If not, then, well...

Every day's a school day! :D

Today, the BBC published this article online, about 4chan and I fear the worse.

...an army of cyber-pranksters swung into action...
This is typical of most published articles about 4chan and its actions, particularly of the [sub]in[/sub]famous /b/ board, however this is only a taste of the rather pointed language on the writers part. Now, we've all seen /b/ and Anonymous in action, and how it acts and this is causing concerns about actions by the aforementioned groups against the BBC.

Question is, do you?
PErsonally, that article is fairly well researched and not really that judgemental.

I cannot damn stand 4chan's stupid arrogance. "We are legion blah blah blah". Whatever, you're a pasty kid behind a computer screen just like everyone else.
...I'm not pasty.

But, this is attention to 4chan. They're just giving the annoying prick section of /b/ exactly what they seek so desperately.
No, /b/ is always in desperate need for people who get angry at them. When people get mad at them, /b/ has done a good job. The trick is to ignore them to death or just get bored by them. Reply with 'oh' instead of 'FFFF YOUUUUU' or something, you know what I mean. Just be boring, and they're gone.

Too true. I did like how Moot made the destinction between most of the users, the pasty 12 year olds who keep using that f-ing quote, and the few that actually did group up under the banner of anonymous and do real-world protests. It's just people acting according to a meme for the most part, a particularly annoying meme.

"We never forgive, we never forget, we are... THE ESCAPIST... PREPARE FOR US!"
No mate... no.

Probably not, the article was very unbiased and factual(it is the BBC after all) so I doubt they will get much negative repercussion.

I'd say the article paints 4chan in a pretty good light tbh. Then again it's hard to see them as bad for anything after how they explain tracking down the loathsome bint who threw a cat into a bin.

Well they are basically cyber-pranksters, I don't think the BBC will get 4chan's attention. You make it all sound so dramatic, it's just a website.
You should read the article...
The article was fairly harmless. It was the comments from so poor fools who will get the attention, if any. Such as that person who posted as "Lizard".

Lol, yes, BBC will receive a visit. I don't think 4chan will create a massive raid or anything like that, but every time I've seen someone document 4chan, it's had /b/ threads made for it.

It's pretty bad when people are actually FEARING what 4chan will do in certain situation. That alone says a lot about things to come for the future of 4chan. They need to keep themselves in check, a lot of what they do is hilarious and truly makes the internet a fun place, but then the porn stuff... you know, I've got two young nephews who might stumble across one of their videos laced with porn, and I don't want them seeing that shit at their age. Seriously.
That's exactly what /b/ is incapable of. Self-regulation. /b/ LOVES everything horrifying, disgusting and offensive, and they also happen to like messing with people, which is how they get their reputation.

It's funny the people who are getting worked up about the anon comments. I read most of them(particularly the "pretentious" one) as not being serious. It's an article that points out some of their flaws, and they come on making really grandiose statements. Just seems like trolling to me, and the people who fall for it just seem not to get it...

/b/ is pathetic, nothing like it used to be (good or bad thing? take your pick) IF the BBC does get a responce it only confirms that fact.

We are legion, a legion of troglodyte 12 year olds who dont get enough sun light and havent had any real life contact with members of the oposite sex.

And the fact that we didn't know that, instead choosing to rely on good old Uncle Grammar? You've just answered your own question.
