It's just get the original games off of GoG. More mods of the game are compatible with it so that's enough reason to get the original version.

The thing is, i don't really like mods. I like to play the vanilla version. For example i only installed Unoffical Patch, Footprints, Faalskar and 1-2 more mods to Skyrim.

Your loss.

Probably the EE then. However you will miss out on some developer content like Unfinished Business and Ascension which were created by members of the development team to complete the game so-to-speak.

If you want to take the time to mod the game properly and enjoy the idea of fine-tuning your game experience via mods, then the original release offers the most options by far for both the first Baldur's Gate as well as 2.

If however you just want to install and play the game without wanting to worry about tinkering with anything to have a reasonably updated experience, then the Enhanced Editions do that just fine.

Not much else to it.

There's an argument for playing BG:EE. As well as modernising it to support modern computers/resolutions, the tweaks and improvements a small but subtle without changing anything about the main game or gameplay itself. Better information and various QoL improvements are also there and then there are the extra NPC companions and content. All are compelling reasons and I applaud anything that makes playing this great game easier and more accessible. You will not be disappointed going this route.

Having said that, my personal preference would be to go with BG:TuTu. If you own, or buy BG1 and BG2 from GoG (both include ultimate updates and expansions, TotSC and ToB respectively), you can use TuTu to make an improved, all-in-one game as it were.

First major change is that it lets you play BG1 in the BG2 engine. This not only makes BG1 that much better, it also means the UI and so on are consistent throughout the saga. Second, the entire saga will become seamless, one great adventure. Third, it includes many (optional) mods and tweaks to enhance gameplay. Fourth, and unlike with the EE, using TuTu preserves compatibility with the plethora of mods made for the series over the years. As well as the widescreen mod, there is Darkest Day, Unfinished Business, Ascension and many more.

Yes i mean the Neverwinter 2 remake.
You're better off with the Enhanced Editions. The NWN2 port is a neat novelty but it really isn't much of a substitute for the real thing.
