Don't know if this thread has be done, but here goes anyway.

I don't know if Modern Warfare 3 will live up to all the hype that it's been getting. Yes, this is "the most anticipated game in history," but it seems to me like it is more "the most anticipated FPS concept since WW2." When this game was announced, I was excited because we were going to get a chance to play a fiction world war. Then I realized that it was a Call of Duty game and my interests started to falter.

Many know that the CoD franchise is more a multiplayer craze than a single player/co-op campaign craze. For such a great game concept to just be completely ignored by the ever-so-popular multiplayer, seems like a lost.

Despite all this, MW3 looks like it's going to be a solid, great game, despite most of the interest will be placed squarely on it's multiplayer content.

Battlefield 3 has a much simpler campaign, but the focus also lies in the multiplayer. And it looks awesome. The main interest in B3 is the usage of vehicles, which is what I was always interested in an FPS. Not to say that I'm biased, but other than specialized guns, perks, and kill streaks, CoD hasn't done anything major in it's last 3 installments. The inclusion of weapons will give a variety of gameplay and not merely having a giant bullet sponge that you can hurl at your friends.

So personally, I would choose Battlefield 3 over Modern Warfare 3. I get most of what you see in the CoD franchise and also vehicles. I think this is what they meant when Battlefield 3 goes "above and beyond the Call (...of Duty)."

So fellow escapists, what do you choose?

Im not going to get either depite being a huge FPS player. I'd like something new from my next shooter please. The way these franchises have been plowing out games... I'd get a fresher FPS experience from Skyrim with a bow and arrow =/

Well... the single player campaign of Battlefield 3 tried its best to copy what Modern Warfare was doing (and it ended up looking poor in comparison as a result)

However, the multiplayer portion is completely different, definitely.

I've got BF3 but I'll also be buying MW3. I figure it's MW3 primarily for the single player, and BF3 primarily for the multiplayer. (although I'm sure a lot of people really like the MW1/2 multiplayer too, so I don't expect anything radically different from MW3).

Fair enough, I'll give you that.

I'm getting Mw3 for the single player as well, I'm already invested 2 games into it, might as well see it finish.

And when I'm alone and don't have anyone to play with, I'm pretty sure MW3 will be able to pose a bit of fun.

I'm getting both. So I voted for both. I like CoD if I just want to mess around with my friends. And i save Battlefield for the friends that take gaming seriously.

I'm not much for teamwork. When I played Black Ops, it was pretty much strictly Team Deathmatch.

So BF3 isn't for me.

That said, I'm trying to avoid getting MW3 as well. It's just a time sink I don't need right now.

Both games cater for diffrent audiances. BF3 cater for the large scale battles while tanks and jets while CoD caters for people whole love close quaters combat and running around like a headless chicken.

I'm gonna get the one that isn't just another grey FPS with a couple features from the last game that everyone liked and putting it together with the one before that, that at this point really is relying more on its marketing budget and rabid fanbase than the actual quality of the product.

Neither are good games, both are fun games. Modern Warfare is more my thing (don't like vehicular combat), so I'll go for CoD as my yearly dose of big dumb fun.

Much as the die hard fanboys or girls will declare MW3 the greatest game ever and some have even before its come out, the hype means it will never be as good as expected, plus sooner or later just doing the same basic thing will wear thin.
So really couldnt care less about either of them as while fans of either will no doubt be able to explain the differences, both games look kinda the same at a glance and frankly theyve been saying the same stuff about cod since MW2 and i found it a let down then and with blackops too.

So im gonna go and get saints row 3 instead, a game that actually has something that could be called a story and not just "yaaay explosions/nukes are pretty".
Well ok yes it does that, but it has other stuff too.

I personally go to Call of Duty for solid epic single player campaigns. I go to Battlefield for epic mutliplayer action that cannot be beaten. Certainly not by Modern Warfare 1/2/3/4/5/6/007 and so on.

This again? It's like people want flame wars to occur.

I'm kind of broke right now (with all the releases that are inbound, fml), so its entirely up to my brother which one I'm getting. Probably MW3.
