The group of people who call themselves Assassins are fucking assassins. Part of the reason Desmond was using (probably still using) the Animus was to become a fucking assassin in physical skill (while finding pieces of Eden). In AC2, Desmond became an assassin. The series should've then just stayed in the future as Desmond learned what he needed to and became an assassin. I also loved the end of AC2 where Ezio...
was basically revealed to be nothing but a messenger for Desmond because I hated Ezio but then they milked the series thus making Ezio "important".
It's still not a series about assassinations. In fact, an Assassin's Creed game can even be a game set in 1950's postal office and it would still be an Assassin's Creed game if Assassins and Templars were involved.

Got assassin's creed 4 yesterday, love it, but I love the series (except for 3, it's just wrong)

I got BF4 with my new graphics card, which is nice since I was going to buy it anyway. Never got into Assassin's Creed, and I have little interest in the pirate setting. I'm sure it's a perfectly fine game, but I'd be jumping into a series I've never played before.

I'll probably end up picking both up for PC so long as they aren't massive let downs. Most likely Black Flag first as I got BF3 on PC but only got Assassin Creeds on consoles.

I got BF4 because I've liked every Battlefield game released, especially since Bad Company 1.

BF4, for anyone wondering, is pretty much BF3.5: For Real This Time. Returns Battlefield to its Bad Company roots with destruction and better map design, no more awful class balancing, and the campaign isn't the worst thing I've ever played. I'm actually having fun in multiplayer now even when I'm horribly losing, unlike before where I would rage at getting laser-gunned instantly by the ninetieth Assault player with his 100SS M16A3. If you liked BF3, get it, but if you haven't, you've already made up your mind about it.

Course, some of the funness in BF4 might come from it being new and no one having any idea what to do best. Give a month or two and there's going to be less constant shooting or more of everyone using the same overpowered God Gun. I'm going to miss my easy headshots when everyone starts camping more. (By the way, the Snipers in that game shoot like an absolute DREAM.)

Assassin's Creed 2 was still about the assassinations, there was a whole flowchart of guys to kill and each section of the story would build up to each assassination. When all those assassinations suck, then it vastly hurts the game in both gameplay and pacing. From reviews of AC4, assassinations still seem to be a big part of the game. Yeah, an AC game doesn't need to be about assassinating but they have to be about something. The games have no core gameplay whatsoever, it feels like you do nothing but side shit the whole game. The platforming is auto-platforming, the combat sucks and is so easy there's no point in even making me input anything (even the Rev3Games review of AC4 pointed out that fish are the most dangerous enemies lol), and the stealth is rather poor as well. And the games have all these ways to make money but there's nothing to buy. You buy something that makes you more money so you can buy something else that makes you money. There's no point to buy anything when you really can't die (besides for when the platforming fucks up and you die from falling) and the dual hidden blades are the best weapon. The series, with an almost revolving door of creative directors and 12 month dev cycle, is all over the place and results in the devs just throwing shit at a wall and hoping some of it sticks. After AC2, there was no reason from a narrative point-of-view to go back into the past, it was all set up to cap off the future storyline with the next game. I'd rather have an Assassin's Creed set in a post office at this point, at least there would be some focus to the game.

Yeah, it was game over because I was done with the series at AC2, the best part of the damn game was the Glyph puzzles.

What - I...
They are two completely different games, only slightly connected by release date. There is nearly no similarity between the two - AC4 is about bloody pirate assassins! There is nothing to draw a comparison with... FPS vs an Adventure-y type of game. Might as well ask if people enjoyed the dictionary or Harry Potter more, for all the comparisons that can be drawn.

Neither (yet). I say that because I'm gonna need to get a new GPU first; after that, I'll probably end up getting Battlefield 4.

I'm getting neither, because $$$, but if and when I do, I'll choose AC IV ten times before Battlefield.

I was a fan of Battlefield back in 'nam, before these damn kids with their regenerating health and thumbsticks ruined it. Assassin's Creed was a wonderful idea with terrible execution... and still is. So neither.

I don't have the cash, but if I did I'm more likely do get Assassin's Creed 4.
I haven't really played any of the games in the series, but the setting intrigues me and I enjoy adventure games.

I will not get Battlefield because I don't like shooters.

Battlefield 4. Sure, the cynics in you can see it as a maps pack of Battlefield 3, but I ok with that.
At least it doesn't delude itself by claiming to have a narrative that matters.

AC hasn't been interesting since the second game.
but... Pirates
You know what's the least like a stealthy assassin? Pirates.
Oh I gave up on that too (skipped Brotherhood-3) but I don't care since I'm sailing around whilst listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean theme.
