I'll check into the PC beta but honestly, I'm not much for modern"ish" fps games. I prefer TF2. It looks and feels like a video game.

Why do I have to buy the game to get into PC beta? Couldn't they just have a demo? Fucking Dice...

Yea, I saw this too. Scratch what I said earlier. I won't be trying it out after all.

I guess DICE's "commitment to the PC platform" only runs as far as our wallets will take it.

I love the beta. Okay the lag issues and crashing is a little dissapointing but if they fix that it's absolute badassness.

Just wondering, has anyone spawned at the first attacker's base without a parachute? Because it's happened to me a few times and gets somewhat annoying.

Also, does reviving people via the defibrillator not make the attackers lose tickets?

Yeah, if you revive someone then that ticket gets refunded, which is nice.

I'm loving the demo at the minute. All the classes are useful and actually fun, and I think they've done as good a job as they could of balancing the vehicles. Played a game on attack earlier and didn't once leave the UAV control station, no one took the little helicopter down the entire game. Three people spent the last 5 minutes just firing at me when I took out their helicopter when it was 2 feet off the ground for the third time.

I have nothing good to say of my experience so far in the beta.

-Spawn system is AWFUL. The majority of the time you spawn, you're already taking fire and die instantly. I'd say this was just bad luck on my part, but it happened consistently over the course of 5 or 6 matches.

-Vehicles are very overpowered, as they always are in FPS games. I understand they need to be worthwhile, but you have to RPG a tank 4 times to kill it. Meanwhile the guy is sitting on the machine gun just mowing people down in under a second from across the map.

-Controls are incredibly sluggish compared to any Call of Duty game. It feels like you're walking and aiming in quicksand or something. No prone feature, which is kinda lame.
Spawning is fine providing you use the squad spawn feature and pay attention to where your buddy is, if he is being shot at as you spawn chances are you will be too :s. I disagree that the vehicles are over powered the game just relies on teamwork - granted that isn't always possible, but this game improves 10 fold if played with friends. I agree about the prone feature though. Wouldn't be hard to add a drop prone button now would it?

Very very fun.

I need some new Maps, but that will come with getting the game. It is quite fun though. Sniper is good, and luckily, it plays a lot like Battlefield 1943, which is no surprise.

Engineer is a little underpowered though. Vehicles need more spawns/spawn more. I used the Fixer tool like twice and I played the game as mostly just Engineer for 4 hours.

I have maaaany questions.

Did they fix lag? Are there servers with less than 50 ping in the list? Do servers over 100 ping still play ok? Can I shoot a moving enemy five feet away with an assault rifle in single shot mode and hit him?
How have jets been balanced? Can new players fly them? Do they have a viable counter OTHER than the useless AA missiles?
How strong are tanks against infantry? Is a single person driving one still able to machine-gun down any infantry in its path until five Anti-Tank people shoot every one of their rockets at it?
What have they done to prevent people from sitting around in spawn fighting each other over vehicles, if anything?
What have they done to prevent spawncamping?
What incentives have they provided to defend any given outpost, in order to prevent people from always charging heroically into ghost camps?

I certainly don't "hate" this game; that'd be impossible as I've never played it and don't know so much. But I'd like to know what they've learned from the mistakes of BF2.
I am a big fan of the REAL BF2, IE the PC game with 1.5 patch last year
but i have to say
this IS NOT BF2.5, this is a sequel to the simpler console game bad company.
sorry, no player jets, but you don't really miss them.
lag is much less of an issue though, but select-fire is out (simpler console-sourced game, i remind you)
tanks MG requires a specialization and doesn't own infantry. tanks are very killiable with C4, and even rockets only take 2-5 here.
in BC1 spawncamps were a minor issue, i was never camped, but i did kill a couple people shortly after they spawn in some games. limited BC2 BETA expirence tells me that with squad-spawns (any member) and preview of spawn make it much less likely to be camped.
CQ mode in the 1st game did have issues with players not defending, but the rush gamemode actually works well in terms of it assigns teams to attacker or defender.
and yeas, people will still fight for assetss. it's neigh-impossible to code a way to stop it.
but without jets there aren't 3 guys sitting at base waiting for its spawn.
tanks come easily enough.
but there will usually be some competition for the team's chopper(s)

Doesn't look that impressive(The actual shooting mechanics look quite sluggish) and giving that it has vehicles it will be a race to who gets the vehicles first then a "hide and seek" game until one team manages to destroy the tank. I understand that having vehicles in online games is fun but it isn't very fun if you're the guy on the other side of the barrel.

Yes, I get it, the game's built for teamwork but I do hope DICE understands that when you join a server of random people "team work" isn't really going to work that well since most people will probably not have a mic and just run around the map thinking they're playing Call of Duty.

I'm not getting this. I'm positive that unless you have a bunch of friends to organize an actual team with mics and strategy a round will end up being a cluster fuck with people running all over the map doing anything BUT teamwork, which in turn will lead to frustration and brother do I hate frustration.

I hadn't seen a thread on this yet.
EDIT: Playing it and I love it.

Anyone here try it yet?

Comments on it?
Yes i do like it but some things to note (Im playing on PC btw)

It crashes... alot... but being beta and the first few days, you expect that. That is why they have the beta/demo right?

No prone...I have nfi why they took it out, but they have. I dont mind so much, yeah it is annoying sometimes when your trying to hide, but on the plus side it is very easy to tell if someone is dead or alive.

Halo type health... WTF this is stupid, why did they do this? your health re-gens... what is the point of the medic then other than res?? yeah the med makes you re-gen a little faster, but battlefield IMO regen health doesnt fit the gameplay.

Squads... I liked the way squads worked in bf2142 but they improved it in bc2, the fact you can now spawn on any member of the unit, not just the leader. There really isnt a squad leader anymore, which means you dont get some cool unlocks, but that is ok, and doesnt make a single unit more important than others (ive been in games with some seriously stupid squad commanders)

COD knifing and nades... The knife is no longer a weapon you need to swap to, it is a button you just press, same with nades. This is a good system IMO and they have kept the dogtag system, where you can see a list of people you have killed with a knife

Bullet damage... like all the battlefield games, it takes alot of bullets to kill someone, but this one seems worse than the others? maybe they need to do a little more damage.

scope blur... this is a bit strange, but when you look through a scope it is blurry around the edges. They have done this on purpose for some reason, maybe a balance issue? i dont know, at first it is annoying but is easy to deal with it after awhile.

Spawn camping (atleast on rush mode)... This is interesting, but they have tried to stop spawn camping as the defending side cant access the attacking sides spawn. If the attacking side are near were you would spawn on the defending side, the spawn point shifts in the base so you dont get spawn killed.

Enemy sighting... Like in BF2142 you can tell your team if you see an enemy unit by pressing a button, they have simplfied it now and doesnt bring up a menu, which is a little annoying as you find yourself hitting "Q" alot all over the place to try and get the target up lol, where as the menu gave you the choice to give an aprox of where the target could be.

No australian servers... ok there was 1 sydney server up for 1 round, and it was full untill the last 3 mintues and i didnt really get to try it out much... so ive been playing in 250+ ping servers and i ave to say the game works well at this ping. I can hit people and be an effective sniper, yeah you get some rego issue, but the rego is better than I can seem to get in MW2 on a low ping host lol. No teleporting issues, or real lag problems even at this ping (i have read about the lag complaints, but i havent had any issues... other than that one time all other players on the server stopped moving and the game crashes lol)

edit: they have piles and piles of new servers up (including australian ones XD) and with the update this morning the game is piles more stable!!! but they did mess around with the mouse senstivity so be warned, you have to set it up again lol.

Uh oh... Uhh... guys, apparently, there going to be a perk system similar to CoD. If you go to Weapons and Gadgets and check out Specializations... well let me list them down for you:
Lightweight Combat (couldn't possibly be Lightweight...)
Magnum Ammunition
Electronic Warfare (Cold Blooded/Ninja?)
Quick reload Package (aka Sleight of Hands)
Ammo HP Bandolier
Improved Demolitions (let me guess... the new Danger Close?)
Active Armor Upgrade
Smoke
Grenade Vest (Grenade x3, anyone?)
Explosives Leg Pouch
Improved Warheads (sounds like Stopping Power, except for Tanks)
High Power Optics
Ceramic Body Armor (this better not be fucking Juggernaut)
12 Guage Slugs
Extended Shotgun magazine

Ugh, I'm loving the demo but there are so many dumb asses who are trying to play this like CoD.

I don't know about anyone else, but I've always thought battlefield was about working as a team to win, not just getting kills. One kid on my team was trying to "get his KD up." Hardly anyone seems to try to arm/disarm the crate, revive anyone, or support anyone else in any way.

I think things will get better once the full game is released though. Once the people who were disappointed with Modern Warfare 2 realize BC2 is not going to give them their CoD fix and they leave the game for the people who actually play BF for BF.

I want BC2 to be successful but I can't say I want it to become the next big thing.

There were a few things that bothered me about the gameplay itself.
1.)The map is very cramped and there is really only one way to get to the next objective. Normally, one would use a vehicle to punch through the line but once people unlock landmines it will be a nightmare.
2.) 4 rds for a shotgun? Really? There is no reason for this.
3.) Bullet proof glass for a HMG? They're already strong enough as it is.

I'll be honest, I didn't really like it. It wasn't because the gameplay was bad or anything, it's just that all the text was very small and on my unbelievably tiny television I couldn't read any of it (My vision problems probably didn't help) and because of that I had no fucking clue what was going on, I even tried asking people "What's going on, What are we supposed to be doing?" but as you guy can probably guess, all I got was things like "noob" and "fag" as responses. I eventually ended up deleting it. It's a game that I really want to like so I'm re-downloading it now and I will be trying to figure it out XD

[edit]
I feel like an idiot now :( the objective is so simple, attack/defend the computer things XD

Seeing as the 360 beta was free I went for that even though I do plan on getting the PC version of the game. I'm very pleased with it so far, I wasn't a huge fan of BC or 1943 but this has changed my mind.
