Ok so all over youtube I see people liking call of duty, it is probably (definetely) the most popular game shown in videos... but then I see comments hating on call of duty.

I like both battlefield (I've only played bad company 2 but I loved playing it) and Call of Duty (played CoD since CoD4) but what I don't understand is why battlefield fanboys are so much more proud of being battlefield fans, I've played call of duty and battlefield and I haven't EVER "trolled" about one being worse/better than the other. Both games have their flaws, I personally dislike the sniping in both games but more so in battlefield (damn bush wookies). But battlefield fanboys seem whenever the topic of "battlefield or Call of Duty" crops up they bring out the guns and start yelling at anybody who likes Call of Duty over battlefield.

I generally prefer CoD over Battlefield but that's because I'm better at CoD (2.20 kill death ratio) however I haven't given battlefield time, I guess it's because I expect myself to be good at it like CoD

I don't think I've ever seen on a battlefield video "I hate battlefield go back to Call of Duty" maybe there's a reason for that...
(probably going to see things such as "'Cause battlefield's better!")

Anyway I would appreciate a good explanation (is it explanation or explaination?) as to why battlefield fans get "fired up" when the topic of battlefield or call of duty pops up....

If you want evidence of the "crazed" battlefield fans go take a look at comments on the Modern warfare 3 trailer.....

(reading over this it has lot of run on sentences and general jibberish but it's 2:00 in the morning :/...)

Every game has its unbearable fans. I was turned off Call of Duty because of them. Fortunately in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 I don't have to listen to people unless I want to, and even then it's only Squad communication, which is usually good-natured.

I loved some of the CoD games and some of the battlefield games.

I thought CoD 3 was utter shit, and the bad company games had shitty hit detection.

On the other hand CoD2, MW1 and 2 were all top notch games that I have weeks of playtime on. Battlefield 1942 and 2 were both games that were so good. I just hope 3 can get back to the series epiuc roots as opposed to this bad company garbage.

PS: No poll option for I like both? Why.

I will get BF3, CoD:MW3, and ARMA 3. I will play them, enjoy them, then point and laugh at the haters and fanboys alike.

TETRIS: TGM FANBOYS ALL THE WAY.

But really, Battlefield fans are a lot better-natured, especially the veterans, not the people who've only played Bad Company 2.

tough call. I prefer Call of duty's campains but battlefield has the better muliplayer modes.

I'm giving it to Call of duty because i don't play online very often and zombie mode is fun.

Battlefield hasn't disappointed by drastically changing the style of game, and I originally liked it so it stands to reason that I still like it.

I loved call of duty 1 and 2, when they changed it all in cod4 I resented it, and with the sequals further nerfing the campaigns and playing off of the changes I resented in cod4, I simply cannot like the new games.

This is the worst 'Vs.' thread I've seen yet. I wonder if the mods are watching?

BF:BC2 left me with a great first impression of the Battlefield games (despite the SP was lacking). I expect BF3 to blow me out of my living room.

I really like Battlefield. After MW2 I just started hating the series. I think the fanboys on both sides are pretty stupid though, well the hardcore ones. In fact fanboys tend to be crazy and take things too far.

Oh and to answer your question there tends to be a lot more rage in CoD then there is in battlefield. I think it is just BF fans playing on that stereotypical CoD player. I have been called some pretty nasty things in CoD that I have never been called in any other game. Hell I even feel more angry when I play CoD.

My brother recently bought BF:BC2. I played through the singleplayer, and occasionally pick up the single player (I miss Marlowe narration from SP :(). I like it more than CoD because it has a larger and more stategic feel to it (making it feel less like a "Two teams run at eachother with guns"), it has destructible environments (loved those since War of the Monsters), and the class system adds a nice bit of variety to the roles (and squads are just helpful all 'round). But my brother has made it his new shooter of choice, and frankly I can see why. It really is very well done, and like you said, the squad communication tends to be fairly brilliant, because people only ever try and speak to squadmates which gets rid of most of the name-calling and strips it down to friendly banter and team coordinating.

EDIT: Captcha: aticars build ... well I'm all for adventurous and interesting character builds, so I'll give it a try ... once I figure out what it is.

EDIT: Oh yeah, OT: It feels ... I don't want to say realistic, though there is that ... it just ... has a better feel to it. Like if CoD was a house pool, this is a full sized pool, with improvements in every linear dimension. And it's heated!

I've always preferred RTS games to FPS'. Not that I don't buy those shooters to play once in a blue moon... It's just, once you've beaten the campaign, unlocked all the weapons, and reached the top of a scoreboard in a match... You're sort of done. So it becomes something to do while chatting with online friends, or something to pass time if you don't have hours to get enthralled in a book or another game.

But yeah, kind of pissed you'd even put , (who actually plays these?) as the comment on RTS' =/

this is how fan bases work the larger the fan base the larger amount of idiots are in said fan base i like mw2 and bad company 2 well just squad death match and rush im getting mw3 because the campaign is good and allot of my friends we'll be online and ill get bf3 because............. it looks pretty
That's a large sentence you've got there... Would be a sssshame if something happened to it...

And I play RTS-games. What's wrong with that, because you don't like it? Wow, you've got an open mind.

OT: Battlefield all the way; Tactical play over lone wolfing teabaggers any day.

Personally, I like both (in the multiplayer department that is). They're similar enough to easily transition from one into the other, yet have just enough differences in each game's depth to keep me hooked on one without ever thinking "Wow, it's pretty much call of duty (or battlefield) only with different maps, game modes, and guns" then dropping it for the other.

Having said that though, I do prefer Call of Duty over Battlefield, if for only the fact that the gameplay isn't quite as slow (and that I was introduced to Call of Duty first).

Not sure exactly why Battlefield fans, in general, seem to be a lot more protective about their game though than Call of Duty fans. Maybe since Call of Duty is more popular (the sales prove this) the Battlefield fans feel like a persecuted minority and thus have a greater need to defend their title, whereas Call of Duty fans figure they don't need to defend their franchise since its popularity already does a good enough job at that. And since Battlefield fans view their game as the superior one, in spite of the fact that so many people like Call of Duty more, they might draw a conclusion as to why Call of Duty is more popular, such as that Call of Duty fans are dumb, sheep-like, or otherwise inferior in some way that would cause them to prefer Call of Duty over the obviously superior Battlefield series. This in turn would, of course, lead to massive trolling on various Call of Duty related topics.

Course, this is all just my thoughts on the matter. Maybe someone else can come up with a better idea as to why Battlefield fans tend to be more defensive and proud about their game, assuming this is even happening in the first place, of course.

I don't know, it's tough to really explain. The reason why I get all "fired up" (which is really only at my friends) when it comes to the whole BF3 v MW3, is because I've played all the Battlefield games and Call of Duties and prefer the Battlefield series (although I completely loved CoD 4) And when I ask my friends which they prefer, which is Call of Duty, they say Battlefield sucks or is gay even though they've never even played it. And I'm guessing because Call of Duty is so popular, every Battlefield fan has at least played one or two of the latest CoD titles, but not the other way around.

On a side note though, isn't Modern Warfare 3 like, not a Call of Duty title? Because of the whole, not with Activision anymore? But either way, if MW3 is gonna be anything like CoD 4 then I'm totally picking up both :p

bfbc2 campaign couldn't hold my attention past chapter 3, i just got bored. CoD campaigns i star at 1am (midnight launch buy) and playthrough till finish, in one sitting. They grip me, then i nap and start multiplayer on day one and play for 3 days straite because i take 3 days of holiday from work for CoD releases. I love CoD. Specifically IW's CoD. I played the hell out of some BFBC2 Multiplayer, but it's only appealing to me with friends on..and since most of my friendlist will be on CoD. CoD wins my time.
