I never treated a girl differently than a guy on a game. It doesn't matter if that is a girl in power armor, she's still in power armor, i'm gonna blow her head off. If she doesn't like that I don't fawn over her like a pre-pubescant horndog, she's fulfilling a stereotype and we're better off without her.

("Go easy on me, you asshole! I'm a girl!" "Your hands work, right?")

I WOULD go easy if she said 'newb' first. But that never happens. And i suspect the above convo was actually a guy since it took place via strategy game text.

My brother has said that his friend tries inviting every girl he sees online to his friend list. (I don't remember exactly why but i think it was something about fulfilling a personal challenge) And apparently most accept the requests, which i assume means he's nice about it at least.

I suppose I'm less rude to them but besides that they're not getting any leniency in being destroyed by my AMAZING POWER! MUHUAHAHAHAH *Cough cough cough* Sorry 'bout that, evil side kinda slipped out a bit there.

Yes. I was raised to treat folks politely, be a gentleman to ladies, and when I'm playing online I bring this with me.

Online, I don't really treat them all that differently.

In person, I treat them differently. Because a girl who likes gaming is automatically very, very attractive.

Well I voted yes but I'll explain. I don't actually treat them exactly the same as I never really flirt with guys online... But I don't treat them any worse which is what I think your kind of asking. As far as I'm concerned I always just treat people online the same way as I would in real life. So if they are nice I'll talk with them and if they are annoying I will act like a dick towards them. Basically the same goes for girls. So in that respect I treat them the same.

I will help the new players on my team regardless of gender and I will also devestate my opposition in the same mindset. Though, I do add people online who have been just great fun to play with and are the more plesant to talk to.
Which is funny, because its at the point of adding them is when I find out their gender. (text based communications)

So, in short, yes I treat them the same online.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever met one online. Or if I did, she never specifically identified herself as female, and I don't think she should need to.

I treat them the same but I will always friend a girl over a guy. Just because they tend to play more cooperatively and don't get so uptight if a game goes to shit and you lose (I usually play Left 4 Dead 2). In general they're more fun to play with.

I like to win but it's not everything for me. So I like playing with people who are in for the experience of playing, and are team players. Not those who are only focused on achievement points, win totals, or dominating others.

I treat them like people, same way I treat anyone else. Unless you give me a reason to treat you differently you will get the same treatment I give anyone else.

Tell you what--you can keep your neurotic, swear-obsessed children, I'll take my fun with the guys and girls who can speak in a reasonable octave without resorting to a sentence with a higher obscenity density than a terrible rap album. Cheers!
Are you sure you're even addressing the right person? Because I cannot think of any way you could have drawn the conclusion that I wanted them or was defending them in the first place.

In short, address what I say, please and thank you.

I try to, but I've only really talked with one, and during the usual adventuring thing today I had to explain to her what a boss fight was (note: she at least claims she's a gamer, so she gets included here). However, if that were a guy, I would've expressed a similar amount of exasperation...so I'd assume that I do treat them the same.

@ OP .. it seems to me that those gamers treated "the girl" the same way they would treat any other gamer. Are you saying that you wouldnt troll the shit out of someone if you foundout they were a girl? (assuming you normally troll the shit out of everyone).

Everytime I find an actual girl gamer not ones pretending to be women, no offense to you I know you were just trying to prove a point. Anyway, when I find them and become friends with them I pretty much treat them how I treat my guy friends. I don't make sexist remarks like get back in the kitchen or whatever but there are a few sex type things which I'm never serious about so they just fling them right back at me in a fun way lol.

Obligatory "There are no girls on the internet" post.

Seriously, though, I don't play online much, and I'm pretty sure I've never once met a girl anywhere on the internets.

Except in the MLP message boards, which kind of says a lot.

Switching the genders around - yeah, sure. I don't see any reason to treat a guy differently.

My experiences - I've played WoW and Runescape online (not touching XBL with a ten-foot pole), and Runescape was pretty bad sometimes. I had a fair few guys friend me and start chatting out of the blue, usually leading up to ask me to become their "gf" or question me about sexual experiences. On Wow, so far I've only ever received interest from guys when playing my undead warlock. I... don't know why that is.

Yes, in a way. Typically, they seem to be nicer, so I tend to talk to them more. Not because they are girls, but because they aren't (err... mostly aren't) porn-obsessed douche bags, like a lot of the guys out there.

I have seen people treat girls like royalty before and it was annoying the hell out of me. We had some bot in IRC one day we were having fun with. This girl shows up and says she doesn't like it, and then suddenly nobody else likes it. If she didn't like someone, then nobody liked them.

I'm voting yes because the answer is yes in spirit, but no if we take it literally.

If we're talking about girls who play online, I actually want to try harder to beat them more than men. Not because I want to "put them in their place" or anything, but because I don't want to hold back against them due to their gender. I want to give them everything I've got (yes yes, insert sex joke here) and I truly hope they have what it takes to take it (yes yes, ha ha aren't you funny for thinking of yet another sex joke in the same sentence).

This way, when a girl does win, it isn't because I went easy on her, but because she deserved it.

*Maniacal laughter ensues* This one gets it!

..Anyways, yeah. I do. Then again, I mostly play my games with ventrilo chat, so we all know each other from hours upon hours of voice chat and general mingling to a healthy degree you don't get by typical text chat anyways. Sexist comments do come up occasionally, but they are usually in the tone of evident sarcasm (as would be recognizable through voicechat).
