So I've been looking at the "post a personal picture" thread and noticed a large quantity of facial hair. It got me thinking as my friend (a nerd) is intent on growing a beard and I myself (a nerd) toyd with the idea of some freaky moustache jobby and I wondered if there was a direct link between nerdiness and desire to grow facial hair. Furthermore I wondered how many actually went through with it. Of course ladies you're opinions are important, I just personally don't care. Therefore please don't answer the poll though feel free to comment.

My take on the psychology behind my observations of correlation between hairy faces and nerdiness is that it's about manliness. Deprived of masculinity by our natural abhorration of physical exertion we lack musculature vital to obtaining the sought after attentions of our opposite gender. We therefore attempt to compensate by squeezing out strands of collagen from our chins and upper lips, allowing them to thrive and flourish, because without it we look actually rather effeminate.
Also it catches food so it doesn't drop on your clothes!

What are your thoughts escapists?

I am what you call a seasonal bearder. I grow one on first snowfall of the year, and shave it off once the snow starts melting. We also have a family tradition to get christmas photos every year with different types of mustaches and christmas sweaters, which all turn out freaking awesome (this year was handlebars)

Goatee with sideburns. Sometimes I'll do a Fu-Man-Chu style mustache as well but currently I do not posses one.

I'm a girl.

..I voted that I consider it.

Honestly, I'll say that I used to hate beards and facial hair of all kinds; however, I've begun to warm up to them. As long as they're clean and quite short, they can be very attractive depending on the face. Although I still don't like goatees..

I've considered growing a handlebar mustache so bold that it'd embarrass a gay pornstar.
But for now, I've just got a neckbeard to rival any basement dweller.

I'm inspiring to a bear on my face, or some Odin atire. Though work has to keep telling me to shave the darned thing off. I swear, in my last few weeks there, I'm gonna let this sucker grow. Well, it may not be a bear, more so fuzz, point is, I'll get something going on my face.

I am lightly bearded (I convey a 'grizzled' or 'rugged' look with my facial hair) but I hope to posess a beard to rival Zues himself.

My dad has a big bushy beard. Last week when he was sleeping in his living room I hid a buffalo wing in it. April Fools Day was awesome just because of that, he had a craving for wings all day long but it took him 1 1/2 hours to find it. :D

The truly hardcore do not have time to shave!

A folly that is a waste of time, which could be used fragging, grinding or constructing a perimeter around a base...Clearly theses are more important feats.

Had one and am considering growing a new one. Kinda miss my beard, it was so soft and stroking it while thinking and drinking a beer was awesome.
