The walking dead, just beautiful in every single way, I felt so awful, so depressed I was literally moved to tears. This really never happens to me when it comes to gaming, but I found the ending so moving, I could do nothing but cry

Metal Gear Solid 3 and Crisis Core get me every time. (Am I the only one that said Crisis Core?)
L A Noire, Mass Effect 3.
Halo 4 very very nearly had me.

Man I nearly teared up at the end of the TGS/Polaris Pacific Rim video, and it wasn't exactly an emotional journey. I'm a 20-something man going through menopause.

I've gotten close. Very close.

The Walking Dead for reasons obvious to anyone that's played it.

And Journey, which, as I've said multiple times before, resonated with something deep inside of me. I honestly can't explain how that game made me feel. If I had cried, I'm not sure what I would have been crying for.

Also every time I rewatch Blank Points (the Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep true ending), I get a bit misty. It's a weird combination of feels coming from nostalgia, empathy and hope all at the same time.

Nah, Crisis Core was powerful.

It's strange how everyone that played it already knew how it would end, but still got real emotional about it.

I hadn't even played the original Final Fantasy VII beforehand, and thus had zero attachment to the world or characters. Those final moments were just handled so wonderfully.

Torment. After all that discussion and wandering the planes, TNO just accepts how it ends and it was just so... beautifully made I was half-way to crying.

I can name three: Shadow of the Colossus, Portal 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 all made me tear up at the end. I love games that can do that to you.

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey did it for me.
It's a pretty sad ending, and leaves a LOT of unanswered questions.
It left me leaning back in my chair, but I didn't cry.

I will admit that the apparent ending in Rayman 2 totally did make me cry, but the actual ending made it better. I was... like... ten.

Time Fcuk also nearly made me cry, but that's because the atmosphere in the game is so utterly hostile and unpleasant that I was just glad I had escaped. Also, the implications of the game are genuinely horrifying and didn't help matters.

I cry a lot during games, but almost never at the end. Either the ending is bad and therefore does not manage to take a grip on my emotions, or the ending is quite good and I am happy and fullfilled to have seen the journey through - even if it is a sad ending.

I'm going to fully admit: Sonic Generations and Sonic Adventure 2 left me in tears.

I have quite a lot of them actually. I think deep down if a story centric game doesn't make me cry then it's doing it wrong.

I cried three separate times during the last 20 minutes of Persona 4, I cried at Labrys' backstory in Persona 4 Arena (#024 man! Fuck!) The true end of Corpse Party (most emotional mobile phone beeps ever,) the end of Hanako's route in Katawa Shoujo just a little bit and the endings of the first three Ace Attorney game. (Not Apollo Justice though, That one was a little lacklustre.) Especially in Trials and Tribulations. The last present is fucking genius. They bring back a remixed version of the original Cornered music just for the final showdown.

Oddly enough, the bit with Mordin in Mass Effect 3 didn't even make me upset. I never even thought it was remotely sad at all... He went out the way he would have wanted. Doing science and shit.

Though the last conversations with your crew and stuff were great. Especially Garrus

Fuckin' see you at that bar in the sky too friend...

*Came close with MGS3.
*Blood Dragon's last level had me laughing so hard I was crying, if that counts.
*SILENT HILL: SHATTERED MEMORIES. Now, those games usually have some emotional endings, and those from the second game always made me feel depressed, but never to tears. But, while Shattered Memories had it's share of crippling flaws, it had a damn good story, and the ending...
"You've been with me for so long..."
"I always will be."
The events portrayed are sad enough, but that music has to be the deal breaker.

The obvious answer is Walking Dead, That was just so emotional.

I almost cried at the ending of Journey. I don't even know why, it was just such a beautiful experience. I also played it alone in a dark apartment 4 am, so that might've been part of it. It raised so many questions, very interesting philosophical thoughts and all that. Was the whole game some kind of metaphor for the whole meaning of life?

Bioshock Infinite is also another one. Spoiler about the ending..

The moment after the ending scene, when I realised that Booker killing himself in that dimension/world means that Elizabeth will never exist in the form we saw her in the game. She didn't actually die, but the columbia "version" of her died. She will never have her skills, she can never open tears or pick locks in the "normal" world etc... We learned to care for her in Columbia and now that version is actually gone for good

As did Professor Layton and the Unwound Future.
This was the first (and so far only) game that's made me cry. So many feels, so unexpected.

I think what made it so emotional was the fact that he's normally such a cool and collected character, and we finally got to see him have a true moment of weakness. He can drive his car into a giant robot that's attacking London and fly it back out without so much as batting an eye. But then at the end, he was so vulnerable and sad...I couldn't help but feel for him :-(

Oh god, all the time. I've always been prone to tearing up from powerful emotions, and I've always had a strong sense of empathy. That combination being true... I cry at most endings, be they in books, games, TV shows, movies, anything really. One notable example? Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. God, that ending*. That horrible, horrible ending. And I don't mean horrible as in it's bad. I mean horrible as in it's one of the most depressing endings ever in an otherwise pretty bright and happy game. Damn.

*Anyone who's played the game (either the PS1 original or the Wii remake) knows what I'm talking about.

Fiora was one of my favorite characters in the game. Ever since it was revealed that she was still alive, I was hoping they could save her, especially since she remained so strong, regardless of her condition. Seeing her and Shulk on the beach, looking out over the waters and imagining all the adventures they could continue having was absolutely incredible.

It was easy to see the ending coming a mile away, but that didn't make it any less impacting. Seeing what Clementine had to go through as Lee slowly died in front of her was heartbreaking. Maybe not the same sensation as what Xenoblade offered, but it made me cry none-the-less.

When it became obvious that there was no way Shepard was going to live, I couldn't help but remember my last one-on-one conversation with Ashley, where she basically made me promise not to die again. When her image flashed on the screen as I jumped into the beam (synthesis ending), I couldn't help but cry a little for her losing Shepard again. Hey, at least I sacrificed saved her and everyone else.

One of the major side plots of the game was Duke's story, which, in short, was very tragic and filled with ideas for revenge. To see him remember his best friend's final wish and be inspired by the party's resolve to fix the world's problems was very moving. Not to mention, I've rarely felt such an overwhelming sense of "we did it" as I did at the end of that game. It doesn't help that this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwed7OblfZY] song played during the credits, after which was a scene that solidified the end of the party's and Duke's stories.

Other endings have been touching, but none of necessarily made me cry. Maybe Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones did (The Sands of Time just had me laughing at The Prince's witty comment), but I can't be sure.

The only game that's ever made me cry is Drawn to Life, I've never even been close since, but that game had me bawling for hours

Parts of To The Moon came close, but I'm not an especially emotional person, so I don't think I've ever cried at a game.
Oh, that one bit in "To the Moon" nearly had me in tears. THe only reason it didn't was because there were other people who were around and then I'd have to explain why.

A thread about emotional VG endings?

And no one has mentioned Shadowhearts 1 or 2?

Those games have some of the most depressing endings outside of Silent Hill. Considering the canon ending of Shadowhearts is the bad one, unless you believe that the good ending of Shadowhearts 2 allows for both to be possible. The bad ending of Shadowhearts two is pretty much suck for everyone though Yuri might actually be better off.

Either way Karin gets screwed...

But I'll actually say that the ending of Soulblazer made me teary as a kid.

And the end of Lufia 2 is one of the most memorable of all time, even though you should already know its coming.

But I don't think any game can match the feels of this

So I just beat ICO. It was quite an awesome game, despite beating it in less than 6 hours.
The whole time I'm half wanting to tear up, but I managed to keep my face dry.
I was crying during the Boss fight, not so much the ending. I think the Queen telling me I wasn't worth her daughter, among trying to deal with the pain of the broken horn was what sent me over.

Earthbound is a game that sends me into tears during the boss fight at the end and at the credits. It's a beautiful game. A beautiful game, and it never ceases to move me.
