Poll: Best 2D Squaresoft game to go 3D

So you just found a non-Robin Williams genie in a lamp.

(ignoring your other unimportant wishes) What would be your favorite 2D Square game to get turned 3D. My money is on Final Fantasy 6 with Final Fantasy (7-9)'s engine being amazing. Chrono Trigger being close behind.

Chrono Trigger. Because it happened. As Chrono Cross. And was amazing.

Dragon Quest was Enix's baby, not Squaresoft's. It's all owned by Squeenix now, but Squaresoft!=Square Enix.

OT: That would actually be my vote if it weren't for the fact that it's not a Squaresoft game, and therefore not technically a valid answer to the question. I really like the way the DQ remakes have 3D backgrounds with 2D sprites.

Edit: I'm confused now. Is this about your favorite game to have made the transition, or the one you most want to? Because several of those games I know have been remade in 3D already.

Edit: Well, maybe not several, but at least two of them, and pretty much all of them if you count sequels as "making the transition."

Personally I'd rather it was Robin Williams, but I'm going to go with Chrono Trigger. I love that game.

I mean, c'mon! FF2 was awesome! Nothing like dual wielding shields while sitting in the front row like an impenetrable wall with three archers behind you obliterating everything in your path!

oh yeah - rented Dragon Quest V back in the day, my PS2 even let me play it once or twice - and have FFIV on my DS. Kain and Cecil are just 2 great names of rpg starter characters imo.

Sorry, should of been clearer - this was about best 2D games from Square (Dragonquest on a technicality there) to get an upgrade fictional or real. Also, a vanity project to see if I was the only Secret of Mana fan out there.

To spur the forum's I'd also add,

Would Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 and onward be better in 2D? Or at least, would you check it out?
