SkyNet doesn't make the poll? What the hell!

SkyNet is my answer. SkyNet was an AI that knew how to get shit done.
you're kidding right? across two good movies, two crappy ones, and an idiotic tv show, skynet couldnt do jack shit. seriously its kind of hard to screw up what they tried to do, and yet somehow every hollywood cliche of inefficiency befell their robots

me? im going with Hal. and i just want to say that Hal, nor any AI antagonist was ever evil.
SkyNet reduced humanity to MILLIONs, instead of BILLIONS.

Like all AIs, it fails, but it is by far the most successful AI of all time (Besides the Matrix, but they were so stupid they thought human generated electricity was the most efficient energy sources available without a sun. Seriously?).

It's questionable if Sovereign is an AI.

Reapers are organic after all, and according to them, were not created. If they were born, evolved, and ascended to ship hood naturally, they are not AIs.
i dont know if i agree with that. if they arent biological (i havent seen any indication that they are) then they would be artifical, and that is the A in AI. i guess the real question here is how do you define artificial intelligence?

How can something naturally occurring be artificial?

And they are organic. Have you not played ME2?

HAL. Seriously that thing creeps me out. I couldn't explain it better than the Nostalgia Critic, so allow me to just point you towards his "Top 11 scariest performances [http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/28152-top-11-scariest-performances]". Not that I don't have my own opinion on this situation, it's just he explained it best.

The Calculator, that thing may not have had a sense of humor, but it really knew how to make things difficult for you. Besides having an army of robots it also captures your commander and turns him against you. Once you defeat the Calculator though, it speaks to you for the first time and offers a compromise and at first you may think that it's just screwing with you, but you then realize that it is sincere about it's offer and could potentially bring stabilization to the Wasteland, you just have to give up your life in order to do it. Evil.

Durandal from Marathon, though there's more to him than just evil.

After that, probably SHODAN.

The Machines from the Matrix universe get my vote. Not only did they kill millions, if not billions, during the war against mankind, but by the time that the Matrix movie they have (most likely) enslaved trillions of humans and used them for power sources.
And then there's the programs and machines that like to toy with the enslaved humans.

I think GLaDOS wins this just for the emotional blackmail. ED-I from Mass Effect gets points for saying she likes Joker on his knees. *snort*

I would say Geth in response but the Heretics were just a result of a math error/virus. Not to mention I'm pretty sure that the Quarians started that war.

I think I'll just go with the standard Skynet, from what we know it became self aware then pretty much decided to kill all humans without any sort of math error or interference.

The Patriots from MGS get an honourable mention. It takes alot of complex planning to put on a global stage show to distract people from the fact that thier world isnt run by them anymore, at least until it borked out.

Skynet did take over the world and wipe out most of humanity, but then what would it do? Conquer the Sun?

GLaDOS got my vote because its the only one i actually liked.
Because we can.

Self preservation was its motive.

SkyNet was perfectly cool just chilling in a server room, flying planes and talking in funny voices, until someone tried to kill it. When given the choice between protecting itself, or America (Both of which where in its programming) it chose self.

i have played ME2. i was under the impression that the reapers were the big ships like sovereign. not the collectors or the other races whom they enslave. and who says that they are naturally occurring? i never heard of anything that says that they just evolved. any claim by the reapers that they were not created could be false. perhaps they were originally computers in some ancient race's ships that became self aware. i guess that would fit their definition of not being created as their sentience was their own doing. the only thing that was 'organic about them was the fact that they used human stew to create more of them. but that is still a construct. maybe we are arguing semantics, but i dont see anything saying that they are wholly organic. maybe they have organic parts but i remember that sovereign mentioned something about not liking organics, so why would they use something that is what they think is a flawed creation?

As I understand it is implied that
each Reaper is born out of the race it will reap. Biomass is collected by liquidating species members and the reaper is somehow born
of course that doesn't explain where the original lot came from but basically Reapers make more of themselves

EDIT-wow server borked on me
OT: I voted Glados as CABAL wasn't up there; while "her" evil is debatable I loved the mind games
