I'd say that Oni took inspiration from Ghost in the Shell and ran with it. If you can find a copy for the PC on eBay or some such you should get it and play it. It had a great hand to hand combat system with all kinds of special moves and combos you would unlock as you progressed. The story while it was pretty hammy wasn't that bad for 2001 standards, it's got plenty of cheesy dialogue and nonsensical techno-babble.Aylaine said:Aww. You might like other animes though.Stryc9 said:Snip
Is that so? I've only heard of Oni - Never played. I wonder if it was an inspiration...
Here's a link to a Let's Play of it I've been watching while playing through myself.

He tries to update about once a week, and while he pokes fun at the game he's not mean about it and it's still informative.
Edit: Also, I've watched some other animes, I was really into it for a while in the late 90's early 2000's which also happened to be when they were really expensive and hard to find, at least in my area. The idea of being able to watch them online was a far off dream 56k and all that. I did rather like the three episode thingy of Gunsmith Cats, which also featured Amanda Winn Lee as the voice of the main character Rally Vincent. If you haven't seen Gunsmith Cats you should check it out, it's pretty good too even though it's really short.
