Let me get this straight.

You make a thread asking what the best Rareware game is,

and you don't include Battletoads.
That comment is made all the better thanks to your awe-struck Shrek avatar.

Yeah, in hindsight, Batletoads should have replaced DK64 in the poll.

I really wanted to vote for the SNES Donkey Kong Country trilogy... but I went with Perfect Dark instead. Honestly though, I love every game listed.

The reason I chose Perfect Dark was because it was the first game that I really played a lot of with friends. Every day after school we'd hop off the bus and run straight to my house to play some Perfect Dark on the N64. We put an ungodly number of hours into that game, and loved every second of it.

Whether we were beating up simulants or gunning each other down, there were always three certainties: One, my parents were going to tell us that we should play outside since it's such a beautiful day. Two, we were going to have a blast without going outside. And three, Kyle was inevitably going to knock over someone's drink with a controller cord.

I'd have to pick Banjo Tooie, as much as I love the first game, as well as Conker and DKC, I literally grew up playing that game. Hell that soundtrack is still engraved in my memory since childhood, and it was the first game I can remember beating as a kid so it's got all that going for it.
As a matter of fact I still have my original save file on my original cart with 80+ hours logged!

Ahhhh... memories...

You should always add an Other (please specify) choice there. Because there are definitely more than 10 games that could be listed at "the best", and two of them that aren't there is their NES port of Marble Madness and the more famous NES title, RC Pro Am Racing.

I voted for Banjo-Tooie. Why? Well, it did everything a good sequel does: bigger, better and improved.

Bigger: Way bigger than Banjo-Kazooie.
Better: More moves, variant eggs, more ways to play.
Improved: Fixed some of the camera problems. They even added in an FPS subgame.

People who voted Goldeneye 007 should replay the game -- the controls are downright painful now, doesn't matter how much nostalgia you have, the game barely functions anymore.

I'm going Banjo-Kazooie because of how clunky and sluggish Conker's Bad Fur Day is in comparison.

Goin' with Perfect Dark. Though I lost my copy I remember there was millions of things to do, millions of weapons to screw around with and I really enjoyed the music.

Oh please, it's not that hard to get used to. If you don't just judge on first impressions it becomes really fun again, and it still has that great atmosphere.

It may not be their best, but I wanted to give a shout out to Blast Corps. The satisfaction of wrecking stuff and watching things blow up really good, combined with that tense ticking clock, pretty unique and fun title. And I loved how out there some of those extra missions were. Jumping craters on the moon? A pac-man stage? Hell yeah!

Why is there no 'other' option when you specifically mention how prolific they are in the first post?

Star Fox Adventures.

No really, I love that game. As a Star Fox game, it was a complete failure. But I hate Star Fox games anyway, and as a ZELDA game, it was a lot better than any Zelda game I've actually played.

Of course this is probably just nostalgia talking because I played it during my childhood, but I still really appreciate that game - the way there were no area transitions so you felt like you were exploring a real massive world is something I really like in an adventure game that you rarely see unless you're playing an actual open-world thing. And the graphics were damn impressive too.

No one ever talks about Jet Force Gemini when it comes to Rare games.

It's all kinds of Awesome. It also has a dog who can hover in the air, what other games have that!?
Hell the title theme still sends shivers down my spine! Hell, all the music in the game was awesome. I remember playing co-op with my older brother, having a blast. I wish it was re-released in some form on one of the modern consoles but oh well.

All this thread is doing is depressing me because it's reminding me how awesome Rareware used to be :(

That said, I went with Banjo Kazooie. CBFD was really close though...

Donkey Kong Country 2 is their best game.

Many of these games were good, but DKC2 was PERFECT. The difficulty curve, enemy placement, music, precision platforming, SPEED, all perfect.

e: Goldeneye/Perfect Dark haven't aged well at all :(

I agree and I'm a PC gamer. I love the lose crossair type of aiming, it makes heads shots really easy with analog sticks once you're used it.

It was a close call between both the banjo kazooie games as I love them to death. Though, in the end, my choice comes down to banjo kazooie as it is one of the few games I can still hum every tune without fail.

Never picked that up when I was younger, but as I grew up it became more and more hilarious to hear.
