this can even just be best city or landscape.
It can be pretty, it can be huge, realistic, etc etc. tell us your opinion and why.
Personally, straight after playing oblivion and fallout 3 i was fed up with these 'real world' "Huge" appearances only to turn out a tiny city.
My vote goes to Assassins Creed. Massive, beautiful cities.

I vote for Spira. It's massive, has awesome views and awesome temples with an awesome hymn.

Mass Effect. Huge, gorgeous, well developed and thought out and very unique. The worlds may have been fairly linear and for obvious reasons you couldn't explore the whole planet or Citadel, but they gave you the important snapshot you needed.

I go with Morrowind. It was wide and fanciful, unlike Oblivion's Cyrodiil.

Also, why did you make a poll on such a broad subject?

I'm between Fallout 3 and Borderlands,
Borderlands because of the Mad Max parody
and Fallout because there is so much to find.

EDIT: THAT SPOILER IS FOR BORDERLANDS, kinda.

I don't really care for beautifully rendered worlds as much as I do for creative ones. That said Fallout 3 and Brutal Legends' worlds stick out in my mind.

And, despite how crappy the game was (trust me, I tried to), Sonic Unleashed has one of the most colorful video game worlds I've seen to date.

Morrowind. There's FAR more to do and see in Morrowind than there was in Oblivion, and the level of character and gear customization was much greater as well.

For those that would complain about the graphics, it's very easy to mod the game so it comes close to Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Mass Effect was pretty good aswell.....if WoW had graphics then it wins an award as well, even if it is a bronze.

I quite liked Majora's Mask for the diversity. One minute you're swimming with rotting fish corpses, the next you're rolling around snow-covered mountains.

That or the Forgotten Lands of Shadow of the Colossus, I've spent ages galloping around there.

I like Fable 2's world. Nice and bright and the change from day to night was alright too. Not to long, not too short for me. And people seemed real. Not just going from point A to B again and again

The dual words of Stark and Arcadia in Dreamfall and The Longest Journey. Fantastic, yet realistic and believable.

RAPTURE FOR THE WIN! Are you all fucking crazy, the bioshock environent was absolutely amazing, although very deadly. Closely follwed by the KOTOR universe. KOTOR 2 people.

I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well.

Saga of Ryzom had a very interesting game world (playing on a planet thats like half tree or something insane that I could never really grasp), but unfortunately that's about all it had going for it.

Bioshock, Mass Effect, WoW have pretty much the best worlds, each for different reasons. Bioshock has the best atmosphere and water effects I've ever seen. Mass Effect has a very fleshed out world of characters and races. WoW has the biggest game world I've ever seen.

I'd go with Fallout 3, not that it's really my favorite, but because it's how I think humanity will end up with. A huge fucking radioactive wastland created by human stupidity.

As many people have said,Bioshock is absolutely amazing in it's visuals and theme. Mass Effect was finely detailed - true "hard" sci-fi. Brütal Legend also gets honorable mention for being face-meltingly awesome.

But i guess that best gameworld for me would be R&C universe. Epic colorful vistas, casual interstellar travel,BFGs sold on each and every street corner, and cash dropping out of every single broken item. Sure, there is ocassional supervillain or two,but you can defeat him with the power of friendship... and violence. Lots and lots of violence. Now try telling me it would not be a perfect place to live.
