My most favorite game genre would be the adventure because in the adventure games there's more of a story and more gameplay. Also usually it is harder than most games.

Missed a lot of important genres there, like RPGs, fighting games, driving games and platformers but it's OK because music is there.

I'll say shooter but that's doing them a disservice.

Probably Action. There is stuff happening and you don't always have to shoot. By process of elimination you'd get to Action.

I would say shooter but I mean oldschool arcade shooter, unfortunately all those new fangled 3D FPS games has stolen the meaning so I have to use the name shmup so ppl a can tell what i'm meaning

Just like all the shmups that are listed on XBLA in the shooter section, the genre is lost in a sea of FPS games.

(Just to be clear ) And no I don't mean Touhou, its a ok series but nothing special compared to a genuine arcade based shmup like those from CAVE, Grev and Treasure. Everytime the genre is mentioned on the net Touhou comes out of the woodwork like COD does to FPS
