Re: San Andreas hate.

I didn't like the environment, a lot of the missions annoyed me, there were vast tracts of open empty countryside etc that served no purpose and felt like a waste of time. I didn't like grinding gym workouts to raise combat stats, and there were certain aspects to the gameplay that just felt stupid and tacked on.

I didn't like the "gettho" feel of San andreas,it made the game feel like it was trying too hard to be cool or fun.

GTA 4, although I do sometimes miss the completly over-the-top action that SA provided. I remember that gang meeting in GTA:SA that ended with a car-case involving you, an AK, a copter, and a giant billboard sign that read "you haven't seen anything yet" seconds before the car goes flying through it.

GTA2 for me, i dont enjoy any of the 3D ones anywhere near as much. GTA4 is pretty awesome, definitely better than San Andreas, and the added physics and world elements are a good first step in using all this shiny new gen technology, all the later GTA's seem to lack the raw unbridled fun of the 2d games.

Stupid and tacked on?
Thats GTA 4 in a nut shell. Half the game is stupid and tacked components.
All gets really old after a while

Obviously, this is subjective, every GTA had something someone liked about it that wasn't in the other GTA games. For me, I pick IV because it fixed my biggest complaint about all the other GTA's, the targeting system. That alone makes up for the faults in the game, of which there are many. Hopefully as they do more GTA's in this generation, they'll start to add back the features they removed from the previous games.

It's a tie with GTA 3 and Vice City. Because 3 was the first 3 dimension instalment. And Vice City is one of my personal favourite games ever.

Going with Vice City. It definitely had the best atmosphere.
Can't agree more. Plus it had the best soundtrack, best protagonist and the best vehicle sounds. Sabre Turbo anyone?

Between VC and GTA4, gonna give it to Vice by a whisker because of the atmostphere etc. Prob had the best variety of missions too.

SA is the worst by far for me, whole thing just felt like a mess.

I like san andres the best, just being able to rip around in the desert, hill towns, ect. , it's awesome. plus the turf war, working out, JETPACKS. After nine days I let the horse run free, 'cause the desert has turned to sea, la la laaaaalalala lalala laaaa laaaa (that's what you have me thinking of now)

gta iv got a ten out of ten from game informer and an average score of 99 on medicritic. enough said.
Hahaha. And critics are never wrong.

San Andreas was easily better than IV. They took half of the fun out of messing around in GTA IV. The replay value wore out VERY fast, and there's no sense that you're doing anything except running errands for other people in IV.

GTA 3 was the one that I had the most fun in, the ones that followed (Vice City was the best try) never recaptured the joy 3 had.

GTA 4, because the story, I thought, was amazing and the characters all really memorable.
Plus the city looked great and running over pedestrians had never been so much fun...
