Gundam Wing is awesome.
I just rewatched the whole thing the other day.
That show manages to create an almost utterly unique sense of sterile, tense, haunted, foreboding, doubtful....relief.
It has something to do with the music, the narration, the story, and the visuals all fitting together -just- right.
Like....imagine you're in a huge building with metal, plastic, and glass walls, and tons and tons of corridors and rooms.
It's pretty dark, and the whole place is just dimly lit with patches of eerie blue light, like the glow of scattered computer monitors.
And you're being hunted by a silent assassin robot
But it's only hunting you as long as these bombs throughout the building are armed and ready to explode.
And you just finished disarming what you're pretty sure is the last bomb.
Pretty sure.
You're not exploding, so you must be good, right?
There's no killer robot lurking in the darkness, right?
He's not just busy reactivating a bomb somewhere before he comes back to hunt you, right?
Everything seems okay. You've saved the day. Everyone is going to make it out alive because you saved them! Right?
That light on the wall over there that just started quietly flashing blue...that's nothing to worry about, right?
You're not overlooking anything....?
