Evidently I don't need to ridicule the taste of the peoples music since most of the people who responded have pretty good or at the very least not bad taste in music. And if you want to talk about a varied musical taste, I'll switch back and forth from Elton John to Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughn to Daft Punk, Frank Sinatra to J-Rock... ect. And I agree that not all ScreamO is angry but it is talentless. Screaming is acceptable in songs but just keep it limited to a few verses, the more you shout the more apparent your inability to vocalize becomes. Go ahead and find any random person to sing your favorite screamer song the play it back to yourself and try to say with a straight face that it doesn't sound like the original. As for emo music not being depressing I also agree, Its also REPETITVE, GENERIC, and BORING! Its metal for boys who wish they were girls and either deals with getting dumped, not having the testicular fortitude to ask the person who will dump you or talking about what you would do if you were dumped if the lack of the earlier aforementioned lack of sub-waist line fortification didn't have a playing role in the act. And to close this rant; As for opinions the thing about them is the only opinion you should care about is your own and if you don't like mine the close the browser and jack off to some Hawthorne Heights.
dude, you are my hero.

Metal all the way. but not Bands like Slipknot or Korn, but bands like Hammerfall, Wolfchant, RoF and Korpiklaani, ya know, those bands that make songs about beer, knights, Dragons and ancient mythology.

Tatsumaru626, you sir, are a bastard. You are clearly intolerant of other people's tastes, what with your use of the words emo and shitty. You stimulate flaming with your question about a medium that is entirely subjective. If you don't like today's music, then stick with the older stuff that you like.

Well, I guess I'm offending your precious ears by saying this, but I like straight up Screamo/Deathcore/Hardcore or whatever your preferred name is.

I DO agree though, modern day rap is shit, and and die in a ditch

Anything no ones ever heard of before! :D

Anyway, I like such a huge variety of music it's hard to classify me. I really love music that's actually fueled by passion over the lyrics or by raw musical skill (eluvium) so anything from Lead Zep to Beriut.

I'm a rocker/punk foremost but I like all genres except perhaps metal and all this new rap stuff (good old proper rap was quite good before it became obsessed with women, money, killing/slappin/eating bitchz.)

I smell Internet gasoline ready to burn into a flamewar.
Oh well, I have always preferred metal and prog but am fairly open minded as long as its not too mainstream riff-rock or repetitive or if doesn't have live instruments...

You can't just lump Rock under one option. You're putting The Beatles, The Ramones, Rush, AC/DC, Elvis and Queen in the same bag.

If by Classical you mean "not contemporary", then classical it is, even if I'm a bit reluctant to call it that (Classical is a period, not a genre). Particularly Mozart, Bach and a bit o' Chopin.

Oh! Oh! And Folk Rock and Folk Metal. Particularly Horslips and Young Dubliners for the former, and Korpiklaani and Tengwar for the latter.
