Majoras mask. One of the most immersive games I've ever played and that I cared about the characters (and cried at the ending when the marriage happens) speaks volumes about the game. For main storyline I would put OOT.

Though I do prefer perfect dark, I would still rate goldeneye above it just because it changed how people did the FPS genre. There are games today that don't even come close to what rare did back in the late 90s.

Then there are the million of other great games, conker, shadowman, resi 2, blast corps, lylat wars. Too many good games to choose from!

Edit: Just remembered- body harvest and episode 1 racer. Without body harvest there could be no GTA as we know it today, not to mention that the game was cool. What other game has you hopping to russia and mowing down zombies with a combine harvester?

Er, Goldeneye. By like a mile.
Yup, played that game to death.
GoldenEye was the best game on the N64 but the best game is Ocarina of time. The graphics on Goldeneye have aged terribly and it seems slow now.

In it's day though, untouchable.

I chose Majora's Mask, due to the brilliance of design and the leaps and bounds it made over Ocarina of Time in gameplay, storytelling, and artwork, but honestly, the Nintendo 64 has so many amazing first- and second-party games that pretty much any "classic" that you can name is a worthwhile choice. It all comes down to preference, not really excellence or quality.

Whilst I think Lylat Wars deserved a mention on here, and I still play Perfect Dark to this day, I have to give my vote to Ocarina of Time.

Ya know, now that I think about it, Paper Mario should get nominated. Harvest Moon 64 was pretty awesome, too. Just seconding the opinions voiced by others. Paper Mario was the first in a long line of Intelligent Systems games I absolutely loved to pieces.

I vote for all... they were all so freaking good! but since you made me choose 1, it had to be Ocarina of Time

Both Zelda games on the N64 (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) and Goldeneye are my favourites for sure.

I picked LOZ: OoT because that game brought me into gaming a long time ago and for this great gift (being separate from common society as we know it) I am forever indebted.
