Poll: Best Nolan Movie.

For those of you do not know, Christopher Nolan is the director of Inception and The Dark Knight and many more.

Christopher Nolan has directed a few of my all time favorite movies, so I was wondering which one was The Escapist community's favorite. For me it's a real tough decision between The Dark Knight and Memento, but I'd have to go with Memento because I love the non-linear story structure.

I have seen all his movies apart from Following, but I added it in the poll anyway. Insomnia was alright. Batman Begins was an insanely good buildup to the best superhero movie ever made. The Prestige was really, really well written, but I felt the ending was a bit half assed and a let down for me.

Inception was amazing too and it's a very close third along with Batman Begins for me.

So which movie is your favorite and why?

For me it's Memento, a very intelligent and original film, that's well made, well acted, works well with a small cast of characters and really does challange the audience. You're really thrust into the protagonist's dilemna as you're not sure who you can trust or what you can believe.

I'd definitely say The Dark Knight, with Inception in a close second.

Tough choice between Inception, and The Prestige, but Inception gets the edge with me, simply because of all the insanely elaborate special effects. He built a goddamn spinning hallway. It's hard to beat that.

(To clarify, I'm talking about the plot/characters of these movies, because between Inception, Prestige, and the Batman movies, I think they're all equally good. That is to say, equally really, REALLY good.)

I don't think I've seen his other movies, so I might not be justified in saying this, but I felt that Inception was fantastic. The Dark Knight was damn good, as was Batman Begins, but I just really loved Inception.

Because talking about it makes my head hurt. It makes Inception look downright formulaic by comparison. Although I never knew Nolan directed that, I saw it long before I ever cared who directed what movie.

I liked The Prestige but I can't remember if I've seen Memento.

I have seen all except for Following and I loved everyone. I'd say the Dark Knight with Inception and Batman Begins as close seconds.

Inception blew my mind. Rented it, watched it and 5 minutes later I had bought it. Just wish I could get a mind whipe so I could watch it all over again for the first time.

While I like his Batmans I don't really agree with his interpretation of Gotham. I prefer Tim Burton's Batman movies. I admit I haven't seen any of the others on the list and I probably should.

If you couldn't tell, I'm a rather big fan of Nolan's body of work. I've loved all of his films. Each for different reasons. But if I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Inception. Being a "thinking mans" action flick that includes insane action scenes, grand-scale sci-fi themes, and doesn't pander to the testosterone-fueled action-flick crowd with things like simple plot, one dimensional characters, and bad one-liners makes it stand out for me.

The only film I'm not too fond of is, as before, Insomnia. It just felt forced to me. Like his heart really wasn't in the project. Didn't help that it wasn't much better than the original.

Still, I love his filming and narrative styles. This is why I'm so excited to see The Dark Knight Rises next summer. Then, after that, to see his next film which is rumored to be a Howard Hughes bio-pic in which Nolan analyzes Hughes later years.

Haha I told this very thing to several of my friends who said Inception blew their mind. Memento is just in a league of its own. Glad others think so too. Not taking anything from Inception either though, which was fantastic in its own right.

I almost said 'Insomnia'. When I was working my way through his films, it was the one I expected the least from but was thoroughly impressed with.
Still, probably Prestige, then Memento. Bear in mind, I think that's his best but not necessarily my favourite. Given how often I re-watch Begins and Dark Knight, one of those would have to be my favourite. Really can't pick which though... However, Liam Neeson.
