Thing I hate about OS X 10.6 is that some Apple made software doesn't work with it anymore. I'm not talking about Apple's first ever program either, current software used by people all over the world just stops working, it was fine in 10.5 but Apple had to "improve" it with misguided attempts. Perhaps they've hired EA and will release steady updates and new operating systems which all look the bloody same and fixes bugs which nobody has found out yet rather than the glaring obvious ones that people rant all over the net for.

I like Mac, I like it's for the home user who wants to enjoy the computer experience and it's all thought through and lovely but I just can't use it. I'm sticking with the start menu

EDIT: To the guy who posted before me, DX10 and 11 are useless at the moment. Programmers develop DX9 games with some DX10 or 11 code in to make it look pretty. The second the Xbox 360 gets dumped in favour of a new console, we'll have genuine DX10 games. The differences between DX9 and 10 on Crysis are so negligible it was worth sticking with XP for the performance boost alone, at least at the launch of Vista.

I voted XP, because it has the best compatibility from what I've experienced.

I'm a windows man at heart. Used XP for years. Grew up on '95. Now i'm using Windows 7 and it's the greatest iteration yet.

However, I'm not stupid. Linux is the greatest OS. You can do damn near everything with Linux if your so inclined to. And if your using Linux, the chances are you are.

To the Poll though, There are so many distro's of Linux you should just put Linux as an option.

Id go with xp, had it years, its still fine but sadly its losing compatablity with games so im upgrading to 7 soon.

Also I think macs are meh, just meh.

And there are probably only 20 people on the forum with linux.

I don't seriously expect anyone to choose Vista, but my uncle just said that it is in fact quite good on a brand spanking new top of the range king of all PCs. (Obviously with less adjectives lol.) I included Linux and even Mac out of fairness, I have nothing against Linux, though I know nothing about the Mac system except to stay far away from it. I used it once for a while, don't remember the name of the OS, just know to avoid it. Anyway... Get voting. Please try to keep this from degenerating into a flame war... PLEASE! Oh yeah, my money is on XP, though I do hear that 7 is getting to almost rival XP, but for the amount it takes up on your hard drive.
Well i have a computer running Vista basic and a laptop running Premium. I now have a Window's 7 laptop and still have an XP laptop. I also have a Window's 98 computer system downstairs for Dos games... having said this, i can honestly say i can't tell the difference besides in the views. Window's 7 is the most different, but i can't tell which one is better (though i know 98 isn't only coz its old). Maybe im just no good at systems, ill take what i can get and that's it.

I loves Vista, so I use it.

I would get Windows 7, but frankly, I have better stuff to spend my money on.

i smell a lame war...

ot: Linux (ubuntu i think) and OS:10/10.5(leopard/snow leopard) are the same thing. Apple just added different interface colors, start up graphic, and made it shiny

I'm wrestling with various Linux distros at the moment. Aside from the fact that you need a working knowledge of computers beyond the GUI, it's pretty damn good. If hardware manufacturers bothered to make drivers for Linux, it'd be great.

XP is okay. W7 is like a better version of XP. I'll choose 7, I guess.

This thread is just asking for trouble.

Personally, I just use Windows Vista, because it came with the computer. I don't really give a shit about what my OS is, so long as stuff works when I click on it.
Truer words have never been spoken.
As long as when i click on Firefox and i get to come here(shameless Kissup) i really dont care what Os it is.
Though iv really only had a lot of experience with Windows OS's, i do remember Macintosh....sigh 3rd grade was awesome...i miss nap time.

There is no best OS, never has never will be as all depends on what you want out of your computer. Want to run a server linux and it's ilk stable can run without a monitor and cheap. Want a gaming rig XP of 7, simple hassle free? macs.
Every system can has pros and cons and while I hate macs with a passion (due to certain users and their "enthusiasm" for the brand as well having to pay an excesses for the name,) don't mean I can't see the advantages of the OS, it just not what I'm looking for in a OS.
