Out of all those games, I've only played the demo of Mirror's Edge..

But my vote has to go to Shadow of the Colossus- because you should *not* play this game with another person watching. Just you, Wander, Agro, and a lot o' mountains.
The demo of Mirror' Edge is vastly superior to the actual game
So I've heard. People say that the demo makes it shine, but that the real fact is that it isn't more than that, so you might as well just play the demo over and over again and then you're done.

Pointless poll.
Wouldn't say so. I made this to get opinions on games I might possibly get. This is more for future reference than it is entertaining the spectators.

Agrees completely. I abstain till SotC shows up.

I agree with none of the list and wish to put forward the single best single player game ever.
Mafia for PS2 or PC as it was the only story that ever made me feel bad at ending a game.

Read title... Note that these are somewhat alternative games I'd like to hear opinions on (since I haven't heard much of them), I'm not holding a competition for best games ever. Just want to know which are good.

EDIT: I've played Fallout 3, Oblivion, Painkiller, and they got boring after a short while. Also, I've played Bioshock, which was good. Just so everyone knows, the list is games I haven't played yet. This is purely a check for future reference.

EDIT 2: I removed the options "other". You may recommend games through posts, but it seems useless to have that alternative, since I don't get any opinion on the games I've put up.
well in that case, if you're looking for a good hack and slash plus very....VERY challenging gameplay, you should definately get Ninja gaiden 2.

that's my pick out of the bunch.

Let's go with the strangely-absent option, "Other, and explain why."

Best single-player I've encountered is Fallout 3. I know it catches a lot of shit from people, but honestly, the game was excellent. That statement, by the way, is coming from somebody that played Fallout 2 to death; just goes to show that not everybody that's a fan of the original series has to get their panties in a twist over minor things and cry themselves to sleep every night because Fallout 3 wasn't exactly like the first two.

I know that there are a lot of good single player games, but if you're looking to buy only one, get the Orange Box

Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Episode 1
Half-Life 2: Episode 2
Team Fortress (if you want to play some multiplayer)
and the all-powerful: PORTAL

and its only $20 :)

best? God knows.

As far as favourite goes.

Easily Metal Gear Solid, Metroid Prime, Lylat Wars, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Ocarina of time (in that order).

MGS, Prime and Ocarina all changed what I expected from games, Metroid Prime in particular was a shock as I was expecting a pure fps. MGS3 and Lylat wars are more or less perfect examples of ther genres. MGS3 could have done with slightly less custscenes (but mercifully it avoids the technology explains all bullshit 4 pulls, yay 1960's!), whilst Lylat wars could have done with... actually I can't think of anything that would have made the game better (besides Peppy STFUing).

Am I the only one with the opinion that Diablo 2 LoD is a good single-player game?
(The title of the thread doesn't say "FPS")

And hopefully when it's released D3.

Mirror's Edge is brilliant, don't listen to Yahtzee's complaints, the collision errors are minor though the flow is interrupted at points by the level design.

Still I highly recommend it, it's amazing with Ambilight.
