DS9 all the way, it's much more human than the other series, built around a few brilliantly developed friendships (Sisko/Dax, Quark/Odo, Bashir/O'Brien) and some amusing side characters (Garak for a start).

Not to mention Dukat, without doubt the best villain in Star Trek. Is he unquestionably evil? Is he actually alright but just on the wrong side of everything? Is he intentionally irritating or just misunderstood? No, actually he's a heartless bastard. Score.

I always liked Voyager because it had some of the more interesting events going on. Though I'll always love the TNG characters more.

I... hated Voyager until the introduction of Jeri Ryan. Sure, she seemed to have been cast as nothing but eye candy, but a. what eye candy, and b. it turmed out she was a surprisingly talented actress. (And euphamisms aside, she really does have gorgeous eyes)

After that, I pretty much watched her eps, and then went to rewatch B5 or DS9.

I'd say definitely that DS9 is my favourite, largely due to individual actors performances (especially Avery Brooks and René Auberjonois) and the writing staff headed by Ron Moore. Funny how I'm also a huge BSG fan >.>

I can say for certain that six WAS put there to be eye candy. And it worked rather well.

Voyager is my most favourtist ever.

Sure its sometimes hard to overlook the constant reset button style of each episode conclusion and how they sometimes re arranged physics for their benefit but it was just so great, I grew up watching it and still love it. Kate Mulgrew's acting was sublime, for any show not just a sci fi show, I remember many episodes where she totally sold it beyond belief.

And if I understand correctly it was the victim of lots of Executive Meddling, mainly regarding the Year of Hell which was initially intended to be a season long arc with no reset designed to show what happens to Voyager when it really gets in to trouble.

It did have problems, mainly with Janeways inconsistent character in the beginning, but if you let it happen you begin to see they make her chracter inherently kinda unstable. Hell, a lot of moments, especially Equinox, existed to bring her unstable state to canon, of course this was seen by many as her actually being a crappy character.

I liked the latter half of TNG but DS9 was such a bore, I've never known a series to be so boring in its entireity, I mean come on they even made space war boring.

TNG was my favorite for years until I started to watch the whole franchise from start to finish. TNG has aged a little poorly, while DS9 had some great stories and stronger characters (not to suggest that TNG's characters were weak). I ran out of steam when I started Voyager though. It wasn't bad but after the first episode, I just couldn't care. They had an excellent idea for the premise of the show, but it just didn't feel any different from episode to episode compared to TNG. The only difference then is that the characters weren't anything close to TNG, so Voyager came off as a castrated TNG to me.

I don't think Janeway held on to here attitude for long, but she started out saying that she wanted to run her ship professionally like a Starfleet officer would. I found this to be bullshit after watching Stargate Atlantis. You are stranded in the middle of fucking nowhere with no allies or resources, and she wants to worry about codes of conduct and the prime directive. At least the SGA crew knew that they had to step on toes to survive, but Janeway thought she could get around that. Maybe she could, but then that is just sloppy writing because it isn't believable to throw them into such hostile situations without the need to do what it takes to survive.

All the promo material for Voyager suggested that there was going to be massive conflict between the Starfleet and Maquis crew being forced to work together, and look what happened. By the end of the pilot, the Maquis were stuffed into uniform, and that they weren't Starfleet to begin with was mentioned on about four subsequent occasions. And good grief, I had enough "Holodeck gone awry" stories on TNG. That whole show should have been like the Year Of Hell two-parter without the damn reset button that concluded with. And the overuse of the Borg neutralised any credibility they once had as a genuine threat, which is pretty much unforgivable.

Deep Space Nine.

It lacked TNG's "Happy Families" garbage of everybody getting on together all the damn time (Which it has to be said TNG addressed in later series). Jake and Nog were not superboy, sorry Wesley, and actually had believable character development over the series. All of the main cast could act to a very high standard, and the vast majority of the supporting cast was the same. The writers only occasionally lost the plot and pulled magic out of there arse (Move along Home *Shudder*.) Plus the storyline had a lot more depth to it than TNG could fit in due to the series arc (And indeed whole show arc) format of DSN while TNG was stuck with the older "Each episode unto its own" layout. VOY started off rather shaky, but got better, then turned into Borg Trek with the odd good episode amongst the bumf. ENT was pure unadulterated shit from start to end (Bar the two alternate universe episodes which I still rate as some of the best ST episodes ever.) TOS has not aged well, but its good for camp value still.

And what fanservice, and how amazing is her acting, for someone that hadn't really acted before?

(that's a rhetorical question before I get shouted at for being off topic)

More on topic, did I read somewhere that there were complaints about the atmosphere in the VOY writing room, and that's why a lot of the better writers from TNG/DS9 didn't make the jump?

TNG will always have my heart. The writing, directing, and characters were all more fleshed-out than in other series.

Voyager was just...too weird for me.

My major problem with Voyager is how after each episode the ship is always in top condition, they're stuck without resupply, shouldn't the hull get a bit patchy and such?

TNG is what I grew up with and I have re watched it since so I know I still like it, I love it.

The Star Trek I have the most experience with is Enterprise, so I'd have to say it's my favorite by virtue of it being the only one I really know.

I liked the last season of DS9 just after voyager finished and they combined the writing staff for one season.
