It's without the doubt, The Avengers. Seriously the other superheroes film of this years never stood a chance in terms of the Box Offices.

Dark Knight Rises, by far

The avengers was fun, but that was it, It was an action movie the had superheroes, thats about it. (I'm not saying it was not good, or not well made, it totally was)

To me its like compairng a Great action flick with a great drama, I have to go with drama. It relies on more than action to keep it moving.

I am in China and the cinemas in my city don't play the English versions of films (they all dub them in horrible awful Chinese voices that have no emotion),...

[Edited the next line out after it may fall out of the Forum guidelines]

Avengers; after I saw this I had a holiday to Shanghai and made a POINT of seeing this on the big screen. Totally worth my money.

Very hard decision between Batman and the Avengers. Batman was certainly an amazing movie but went for a more serious tone so I find it hard to compare to Avengers which went for a more classic, campy superhero style.

Additionally, as some have said before, TDKR wasn't really much of a superhero movie as a sort of political thriller in some ways. For that reasons, I gave it to the Avengers.

I enjoyed TDKR more than The Avengers. I love The Avengers, but TDKR was an epic ending to a trilogy. And dear god it's a glorious trilogy. My favorite trilogy. It may not be as good as the last one, but I've seen it 3 times now and I freakin' love it.

And I like Batman more than Marvel characters. Actually, I love Batman. Who doesn't? I also like the realistic take on Batman universe. Nolan is a genius. The Avengers was just an action movie. Great fun, but no real depth. TDKR is more than a superhero movie. It's a drama. I like a more serious movie.

The Topic of the thread should be changed to "What was the Second best superhero movie of 2012?", and lose the Avengers from the list. And the Second best was TDKR.

Chronicle is the best out of the ones I've seen (which doesn't include Avengers), but I hesitate to call it a superhero film. TDKR was never going to live up to the previous film (although it was better than it could have been), and The Amazing Spiderman was on roughly the same level as Raimi's first Spiderman (which was a nice surprise.

For me, Batman, but it's impossible to compare the likes of Avengers to Batman, because of the difference in the tone.

Definitely The Avengers, it's just what a comic book movie should really be. Plus let's not forget that the story isn't over yet. I'll give second place to The Amazing Spider-Man because like The Avengers, I enjoyed the character interactions between Peter and Gwen and especially Spider-Man/Peter Parker acting like how he should be in the 616/Ultimate comics.

Out of all of those I've only seen Chronicle, which would've been a fantastic movie had it not been POV, and the final conflict had been a high school massacre.

I wouldn't so much call it a superhero movie though.

I've seen Amazing Spider-Man, Chronicle, Avengers and Dark Knight Rises but here, I'm gonna have to say The Avengers on this one. I had a tonne of fun watching that one and out of all of the other superhero movies I've seen at cinemas this year, it's definitely the one I'd love to go watch again. One of the problems with The Dark Knight Rises may have been because of the cinema I went to see it at which had a 5 minute break in the middle of it and the sound was fuzzy (and not just Bane), which is weird because it was fine when I went to see Amazing Spider-Man.

Captcha: Vienna Calling. Hmm... Sounds like a crappy cover version of a Clash song.

Seriously, whoever voted for ghost rider 2 over those other options needs to seriously take a moment and reflect on what a miserable opinion they have XD

It's got to be a joke vote or a huge Nicholas Cage fan.

The Avengers, easily. Absolutely incredible, and one that more than lived up to the hype surrounding it.

I also thoroughly enjoyed The Dark Knight Rises, but it wasn't quite as awesome as The Avengers.

I avoided Ghost Rider but I imagine it was pretty dire, I'm watching Chronicle when it comes out on DVD since I missed it and The Amazing Spiderman was awful. The Avengers wins this one hands down.

The Avengers for me as well, but i still need to see Batman.

even then though, the Marvel films just have a more 'fun' tone then the Batman movies, and i like fun movies

Dredd will be the superhero movie of the year. I have not seen it yet, as it is not out in theaters, but I have tremendous faith that it will meet my high expectations. I know for a fact that it will be good.

Not a comment on Dredd or the movie, but is he really a Superhero?
