Hi, I was just thinking;

you know what? there's not enough name calling and childish argument on this forum. So I thought I'd break things up a bit and ask people what they believe the best Star Wars video game ever was.

The Correct answer is of course KOTOR. It took the best of everything from the Star Wars Universe and then did the absolute best thing possible; ensured that in no way does it relate to Luke Skywalker or any of the other traditional avenues star wars games take, thus giving it a chance to shine in it's own right.

Of course, not everybody will agree. I'd like to see what other people think. :)

Knights of the Old Republic is by far the best Star wars game I have played, but Battlefront was also quite good.

I have not played KOTOR so the best is really star wars battlefront is the best star wars game I've ever played, it's what made me exited about that LOTR game that was made by the same developers (but they majorly (next thirteen words censored) in a bucket with that game).

Revan is one of my favorite Star Wars characters ever. And the fact it has nothing to do with the Luke Skywalker era made it the best.

Battlefront was amazing; it was the first of the genre I've tried. They managed it quite well.

Ooh...

I'm tempted to say LEGO Star Wars (I love those games), but I'll have to go with Battlefront.

KOTOR freed Star Wars from George Lucas descent into dementia and hubris by taking the core of the world he created it and re-envision it free from what was known and cannon and make it fresh and new and free of baggage. I keep saying free because KOTOR is free to follow virtually any path and any twist Bioware and various other contributors would want to go and do just about anything.
I heartily recommend everyone to go to:

Jedi Knight series. It gives you the most options for how you want to play, it has many different weapons, three different types of lghtsaber comabt and a heap of force powers. The combat in it is infinitly better than other Star Wars games I have played as well. Kotor just had dungeons and dragons combat with a Star Wars skin.

Xwing and Tie Fighter were amazing in their day. I just wish theyd remake them again.

I also quite like Jedi Knight series. Especially playing online, the duel mode was quite fun. Made easy and good use of force power and lightsaber fights were fun and easy to control.

Battlefront and KOTOR are the only two Star Wars game series that I actually liked and would go reinstall right now if I still had the disks and wasn't to lazy to pirate them.

Kotor2 isn't as good as KOTOR1 story wise, but in gameplay and graphics it was almost exactly the same. Not only that but Battlefront wasn't as terrifyingly awesome of a game until Battlefront 2 was released.

and yet it worked. the fact that it used the D20 system basically meant that the developers didn't have to do much work in actually building the core, and could focus on the details. Which is really what made it great.

I actually liked KOTOR 2. I know it got a lot of bad press, mostly because it was unfinished. I actually quite liked the fact that there really was an excellent opportunity to explore the dark side, especially through the PC's relationship with Kreia. KOTOR 1 basically insisted that to be dark side, you had to be callous, stupid and just mean. In KOTOR 2 you were more sneaky, manipulative and cunning style of evil. Palpatine style evil rather than thug with a board with a nail in it evil.

Star Wars: Republic Commando has got to be one of the most overlooked gems of gaming ever. Imagine if Metroid Prime 3 met Halo 1 met Call of Duty met Rainbow Six. The shooting is visceral and exciting, and the squad tactics are the best I've ever seen in any single player game.

doesn't that just disconnect starwars from it's roots ?
how can you really call it starwars if it only has a passing assosiation with the movies ?
Kotor is like a cousin thrice removed but still a good game all the same.

I like the jedi knight series, outcast being the best.
