No. It hurts the team. If it was deliberate, of course. But not otherwise. I may take some of your advice and boot if they suck, but they have a right to play as well.
I've gotten booted for honest, and obvious, mistakes which they really had coming (who the hell jumps on top of a tank while it's firing??) and it's really annoying.

And can anyone tell me, is the betrayal system fixed in Reach? I had a fight in Halo 3 where I kept getting TK'd by a sniper and it never gave me the option to kick til the game was nearly over.
It's moody. It really depends on factors that I can't figure out, but usually it works well.
Hmm, thanks for that. I'll have to think about changing my play style a little then.

As for your tank thing, that's happened to me a few times, as the tank driver and the guy jumping. Although the best one I had was when my Warthog I was driving was stuck, causing it to smash into my team-mate who then kicked me and sent me a message calling me a twat. Yes, I obviously meant to drive into you, whilst upside down and spinning madly.

I have, once, booted somebody for an accidental betrayal that ended my shot at a perfection. I was in close-ranged combat with another guy, unscathed, about to place the headshot for the kill, and a team-mate took us both out with a rocket. Very careless on his part, but accidental none-the-less.

I was pissed, and booted the guy.

I boot people depending on the circumstances for example the reason I left halo and went to play Black Op's is because of the selfish acting of some people who blow up vehicles or shoot you for taking something 'they claimed' if they accidently betray me in doing so I kick them from the game otherwise if it's clearly an accident I'll forgive them because booting someone harms your own chances of winning as your a player down.

I also don't shed any tears for people who kill their teamates at the end of a round for no other reason than 'lolz' who get booted to be honest, you gain nothing from doing so and there is absolutely no point in doing it so it only serves as an annoyance. If you're betraying your team mate fully aware that you can be booted for doing so at the end of a round but you don't want to risk being booted why not I don't know maybe not shoot them? It's not that hard to not press a trigger.
You can only be booted on rare occasions for it, only when it kind of glitches out and lets you boot them even though the game ended. It shouldn't really annoy anyone, it's just that 2.5 second period after the game ends but before the screen fades out, it's harmless fun.
But thats assuming everyone has the same definition of harmless fun and everyone has the same view on it, maybe the person you shoot wants no part of the harmless fun or does find it annoying and it glitches or maybe they think booting at the end is harmless fun? Just saying you ran the risk by pulling the trigger and will have to live with the consequences.

After all if you know the game could glitch and the person could find it annoying and potentially boot you so you don't get any experience but you still betray them no matter how small the chance you took a conscious decision to do so despite the risk and if that decision turns round and bites you its really your own fault isn't it?

In short not everyone is the same some people might think it's fun some people might think it's annoying, the chance is there that you will get booted and no one is forcing you to take the shot you made the decision and the consequences are yours alone the safest option is to simply not fire.

You know what annoys me?
Arseholes who boot you after a blatantly glitchy game mechanic in infection, when you kill the guy just after he kills you, and it makes the game think you betrayed him, since you automatically get put onto the Zombie team the moment you die.

Bullshit.

OT: No, I don't boot people if it was accidental. Whether they suck or not, if they do it on purpose though, I have no mercy.

Yes, I can not resist the urge to click that boot button whenever it comes up, whether that's what I want or not :p

What I am getting REALLY sick of is the glitch in zombie playlists where if you kill each other just right it's a betrayal. I've been booted so many times It is ridiculous!

the thing I don't get is the game has been out for 4 months and they still haven't fixed that game breaking glitch.

omg i love when that happens, one time there was a guy who killed me 3 times, (the first i thought was an accident, the second i knew that he was being a dick, but his kill/death ratio was so high i knew booting him would lose us the game) but as karma would have it, he did it a third time after the game ended but i was allowed to boot him, it was epic.

EDIT:i dont boot unless it is on purpose and you arent absolutly necessary to win the game when you do it.

If it happens twice or even three times then I get annoyed and let 'em have it.
If it was a rare one time thing I don't bother...

I wouldn't call it "game breaking"

It only happens in infection, and even then it only happens to me for roughly 1 in 250 or so kills, and even THEN they have to decide to boot you.

I have played Halo like crazy, I have been booted ONCE from that glitch, it's a minor annoyance at best.

It's harmless to kill after the game ends because the scores have been finalized and nothing productive can possibly be achieved in the 2.5 seconds after the game ends.

It's NOT harmless to boot someone for it because it costs them credits.

I've had players attack me because I took "their item". What a load of crap. If you fight back, the idiot chases you for the rest of the game. Then you both get booted. It's crap like that, that takes the FUN out of gaming.

What the heck are you guys talking about here? What kind of dick would boot someone else because of an accidental teamkill? Even if they did it on purpose, it should be out of their system now and you can continue as a team. Maybe I don't get as hyped-up on testosterone (I save that for fighting games), but I don't see why anyone would do that unless they really had to.

Unless I see them actively trying to kill me or have a really horrible K/D spread, I never boot them.
Exactly how I look at it. It's funny, last night I was a wee bit drunkish, playing team slayer (elites) on sword base, went to chuck a sticky up the lift (i checked my radar, there were no team mates near me, and the entire enemy team was in the upper lift room) and i stuck a team mate going up the lift right in the ass. He booted me, which pissed me off a little as the match was still early and I was off to a great start, but I was mostly just perplexed. I checked the game in the theater, and a split second before I threw the grenade, the guy had spawned right next to me. Still can't believe i was booted for that, but laughed my ass off watching the video, totally worth it. Saved it, too.

I will wait on the booting screen till the very end of the game, then do it right before we win.
