No. It hurts the team. If it was deliberate, of course. But not otherwise. I may take some of your advice and boot if they suck, but they have a right to play as well.
I've gotten booted for honest, and obvious, mistakes which they really had coming (who the hell jumps on top of a tank while it's firing??) and it's really annoying.

And can anyone tell me, is the betrayal system fixed in Reach? I had a fight in Halo 3 where I kept getting TK'd by a sniper and it never gave me the option to kick til the game was nearly over.
It's moody. It really depends on factors that I can't figure out, but usually it works well.
Hmm, thanks for that. I'll have to think about changing my play style a little then.

As for your tank thing, that's happened to me a few times, as the tank driver and the guy jumping. Although the best one I had was when my Warthog I was driving was stuck, causing it to smash into my team-mate who then kicked me and sent me a message calling me a twat. Yes, I obviously meant to drive into you, whilst upside down and spinning madly.

You have over 50,000 posts. That is roughly 100 posts every single day. Assuming each post takes 30 seconds, that is about an hour spent just POSTING on the Escapist, per day, for a year and a half.

I am scared.
I thought the same thing. It's scary.

Accidents happen. You come around a corner just as a friend's warthog/rocket comes by and you get taken out. That wouldn't constitute booting. I don't think I've ever booted someone for something like that.

If they come up and shotgun me in the face or are otherwise obviously reckless, then yes I'll vote to boot.

see? this happened to me just a couple of hours ago, I was playing Halo: reach and I stuck someone with a plasma grenade. so one in my team thought it would be intelligent to get close to him and punch him with his gun, which ended up in him killing the guy and me killing my teammate...no more than 5 seconds later, I was booted out of the match. fuck you!!! I didn't do it on purpose and it wasn't my fault!!.../rant

OP: I always forgive them, unless he's been annoying me or my teammates during the match

depends on the game type/how your team is going... if it's SWAT then probably yes, having fewer players on our team make it harder for the enemy to win... slayer? probably not...

Is it an accident if your in a fully-manned Warthog and some random guy on your team comes running over as you are about to drive away and yells "KAMAKAZI-HOG" down the mic and chucks a plasma nade which sticks to said Warthog and blows you up just before you reach the enemy?

No it isn't.

If I can make completely and utterly sure that the kill was an accident then I won't boot the player.

I only boot people if they look at me, pull out their gun, shoot me in the face, and teabag me.

What I am getting REALLY sick of is the glitch in zombie playlists where if you kill each other just right it's a betrayal. I've been booted so many times It is ridiculous!

the thing I don't get is the game has been out for 4 months and they still haven't fixed that game breaking glitch.
I wouldn't call it "game breaking"

It only happens in infection, and even then it only happens to me for roughly 1 in 250 or so kills, and even THEN they have to decide to boot you.

I have played Halo like crazy, I have been booted ONCE from that glitch, it's a minor annoyance at best.
your lucky as hell then, seems to happen to me every other game of infection, and the person ALWAYS kicks. its game breaking for me when I cant finish I game I may have been winning cause of something so stupid. also doesn't help that it stops the slot machine from ticking up cause you got booted, which counts as leaving.

As with everyone else, if I think it was accidental, I let them go. Friends I always let them go unless it's for lulz. But if I could see they meant to kill me, I let go the first time. Next time I give them the boot.

no, as I hate it when some d-bag boots me for an obvious accident, I won't be a jerk and be quick to forgive

luckily they removed friendly fire from firefight...I don't play that mode much anymore, but it was bloody annoying when someone would just boot you (cough rocket fight) for an accident just to give themselves more points/deny you =.=

Depends really, the situation you posted would be a kill for the enemy (If they damaged you. If you completely caught them by surprise and failed to see a plasma grenade, then ya it would be a betrayal.) That all said, chances are, if the roles were switched, you would be booted.

I rarely boot, unless it's a jack-off acting like one.

Last time I was booted, I was in the frint of a line (in Reach) tossed a grenade, and had soemone sprint up a ramp into my grenade.

They booted me, and I wondered what Karmic Grace brought that about, considering all the people I had forgiven.

Oh well...

People--only if it's aparently intentional.

A lot depends on why.

If he betrayed you because of a mis-click or innocent accident, let it slide.
If he betrayed you because he is generally incompetent and likely to do it again, no way.

Even though I hate the Multiplayer on Dark Messiah of Might and Magic I like how it handles TeamKilling.
After you are teamkilled, you can choose to "punish" the killer. This effects them in game, like setting them on fire, or poisoning them (same end result, Fire is quicker and/or funnier), slowing the down, making them weaker, all that good stuff. Essentially, the game is saying "Stop teamkilling or rage-quit, you damned *****,

It's hard for me to say because I don't always know if they have done it by accident. If I think it's an accident I won't but if I'm not sure sometimes I do. Also occasionally I'm so eager to get back in the game I just mash A and accidentally boot the person without thinking about it.

I only boot when they're obviously hacking, doing friendly damage intentionally, glitching or just being a dick. Of course I need people to agree with me and I just spam 'F5 ALL!' xD

I'm not the kind that boots though, I rarely do it as someone else catches on and I press the button to agree.
