So, I thought I'd see what people think of this program. Personally, I hate and despise this thing, and to make matters worse, my mother loves it, so it's on a lot.

For you foreign types, Big Brother is an English program which corrupts around 70% of a particular channel's time when it's on. They basically sling a few fame-seekers into a house and film them farting around for eight weeks or so. And when the actual show's not on, there is a constant bombardment of adverts and other support material for this show. There are two sister programs devoted to discussing what goes on in the house, both of which are advertised along with the original monstrosity. (I have slightly more patience for these, however, because they sometimes involve taking the piss out of the idiots who bumble around in the house.)

I dislike it, they claim its a "social experiment" - which is garbage. I just don't see the appeal - you just watching people sit around all day...

Dislike it, very much. Though others seem to like it so I've learned to tolerate it. I don't really see the point of the show, it's just stupid.

I've seen some clips from the Russian version and it's a lot better than the American one. Those people beat the crap out of each other on a semi-regular basis, ignoring things like body size and sex that might give some people a bit of pause. The fights on American reality TV are really put to shame.

If you don't want to watch it, don't fucking watch it.

The last thing I want is for people to complain about something that there is no need to complain about.

Then what the hell are you doing on this forum.

I agree with most of you and always hated the show. If I wanted to watch talentless parasites stumble around moaning about their silly little problems then I would watch soap opera's!

Good question. I dislike the large majority of users on this site, because most of them always thing they're right and have tendices to complain. Those two qualities don't go well together, especially when most of the them are speaking shit.

Didn't a politician go into the house as a contestant on the British version?
If so then you are beyond hope.
Part of what killed it in Australia was when the Prime Minister at the time John Howard said that it should be removed because it is immoral.
Well, that and the fact that the show's ratings were circling the drain and it began to "jump the shark". It brought in new hosts, much worse than the previous one if that is even possible, it threw random celebrities in for maybe a day or two for no apparent reason and most of all, the contestants were utterly unlikeable as people.

To be honest I can pretty much get the same results as Big Brother by videotaping my own family.

I dislike it on principle, although it does have it's moments (especially Celebrity Big Brother).

I don't watch it when it's on, but I enjoy the 8 out of 10 Cats Big Brother special.

Big Brother in itself is shit, but it does provide a lot of material for comedy, ridicule, bile, satire and horror (Dead Set was brilliant).

This show is still running? I remember hearing about it years ago during a massive wave of reality programs. I didn't realize it still existed. o_O

didnt it start as a dutch show?
I know that it was developed by endemol a dutch company or at least a company that is based in holland, but as far as i know it was first shown in britain. if im wrong please correct me.

as for the program, i dont like it, i dont like what it stands for, and i certainly dont like the way it turns the public that watch it into luddites who know of nothing outside of those four walls (i know thats a massive sweaping generalisation but i can only speak from people i know who watch it, prehaps its a geological factor but who can tell)

Well, 'politican' is abit strong for what he is. Basically, a guy who's pretty damn slimey, but does actually have some valid points about world politics at times. Thing 'Baltar' from Battlestar Galactica, and you have a rough idea, although I don't think he ever had as much politican power as Baltar.

Part of what killed it in Australia was when the Prime Minister at the time John Howard said that it should be removed because it is immoral.

Bugger. We're screwed. They already did the random celebrities and even Z-list 'celebrities' for a long time from what I've been told, and the contestants are the scum of society (see 'Jade Goodie' if you dare)
