But I've been thinking about how they could possibly make a sequel, like what it's theme would be and all that. Would they be able to capture the magic of the original movie?
Well, the post credits scene opens up the possibility of a whole world and history of superheros already existing (and size changing powers for Fred) so they could probably go in any direction they want (as long as Fred gets his Kaiju-Fred powers).

Do we need one? Nah. It's fine as a stand-alone film and the ending was pretty solid.

opinions like that are not allowed.

I will cherish every chance for animation superhero movies, I've waited too long for the incredibles 2, and I don't want the big hero train to stop either.

OT:

the movie obviously had its faults, but for a kids superhero movie it hit all sorts of awesome and warm spots that I just don't care about the small mishaps, NEED MOARRRR :D

I believe they're working on that.

I think Big Hero 6 is very well set up for sequels, in the way basically any superhero story is. They've assembled the team, and now they're ready for action. I'd be fine with a sequel, at least more fine than I was when I learned Frozen was getting a sequel.

Sequels are nearly inevitable these days, and I think Big Hero 6 is better equipped than most for it.

Jack sez a sequel is worth doing. There's plenty of potential for plottage in that world.

As others have said, it was a pilot movie of all things. Like a kids version of the Avengers. They spent a lot of that movie developing the characters and setting only to let it slide?

I don't think so.

Then again... where's The Incredibles 2?
in production. Brad Bird is writing it now.

So I just watched Big Hero 6, and I really enjoyed it, like pretty much everyone else who watched it. Like all good things, I want more of it. But I've been thinking about how they could possibly make a sequel, like what it's theme would be and all that. Would they be able to capture the magic of the original movie?

So what do you think, would a Big Hero 6 sequel be awesome, or another case of franchise miking?
They could make it about whatever. As I recall, it's based off of a comic book series right? If so, well just grab a plot arc from the comic series and make it a movie. Pretty easy. I mean all this movie was, was an origin story for their super hero team. No reason you couldn't have them suddenly face a series of threats, in fact that would be the most logical point for the series to take at this point. They're now global celebrities, having to deal with fame/opportunities/internal conflicts/other avenues of life. All kinds of stuff. Maybe some of the team decide they'd rather focus more on science, than super heroing, and decide to leave the team. Now they have to deal with the inevitable issue of friends moving on with their lives. Or maybe some other random threat from the infinite grabbag of super villain archetypes shows up and starts blowing up the city. The possibilities are limitless.

I'd like to see it, as I enjoyed BH 6, and wouldn't mind a sequel. I just hope they don't make the plot as obvious as the first one. I mean I liked it and all, but I was able to call all the plot points in it reaaaaally early in the movie, even some of the minor detail stuff. But still, it was fun.
