I've been seeing a lot of "DNF" threads and how its not that great, so I made a thread about what was the biggest let down of a game this year.
I'm open to write ins

Skyrims' streamlined interface and game-play.
I hope that the experience won't be ruined.
We'll wait and see.

So far...I'm thinking it's going to be Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY FAVORITE OVER-THE-TOP THIRD PERSON SHOOTER?

WHAT IS THE RETURN TO A HEAVY PLATFORMING FOCUS?

NOW WITH RELIANCE ON AI COOPERATION FOR SOLO PLAY?

Okay. So my biggest disappointment is a toss up between the Bulletstorm demo and the Duke Nukem Forever demo. Both made me cancel pre-orders. Bulletstorm made me get Killzone. Duke made me get Alice.

Bit early for this I think, 2011 is only half finished! I'm sure there are plenty of let downs left :)

I was disappointed in the German gov'ment when they announced they would shut down their power plants... I think they decided this before 2011 actually, but they've highly accelerated the plans since Japan which I can understand I suppose. But even with that in mind, it's highly reckless to simply remove almost 1/4 of the source of their country's energy... I only hope they find some way to sustain themselves in cost efficient way.

Gaming wise... can't think of any actually. Might get back to you on that.

EDIT: Oh, oh! Bulletstorm, even though I did enjoy it. But I expected it to be so much better - like Ratchet and Clank fused with Halo... pure awesome sauce.
But alas, it didn't work. Too bad, but at least I have a cool idea idea for a game now.

(And thanks poster above me, for reminding me of BulletStorm)

I'd bet on Duke for this one. If only for ruining one of gaming's longest running memes.

Aside from that, the announcement of the new Brothers in Arms game, that made me rage pretty hard.

Homefront, for promising a great singleplayer when actually has a focus on multiplayer which sucked too.
Brink, for lazy really, really, REALLY lazy designed.
DN:F for not realizing that the duke didn't need a sequel and certainly not this one.

Brink has disappointed me most by far. I didn't touch Homefront and I didn't really expect anything from Duke Nukem, but Brink had my hopes up for quite a while.

I rather liked Brink, kind of an impulse buy and while it was low on content, I still enjoyed it somewhat.

For me, it was Dragon Age 2. I thought it was pretty mediocre, and usually the things that let me look past the usual mediocrity of gameplay for BioWare games (the writing and characters) was not up to par (except for Varric. He was awesome), not to mention I liked Origins quite a bit (played through it like 5 times) and I felt like they killed the tactical gameplay in 2.

They had some really interesting ideas going but it was let down by poor design and (what appears to be) laziness.

XD,did you even read the post?

OT:I wouldn't think of DN:F as much of a disappointment, because 1st:it's just an average shooter with mechanics that let you interact with a lotta stuff out there, which I thought was a nice little touch.2nd:what did you expect? As for other games,I would take L.A. Noire, not because it's bad or anything(I haven't played it),but because it's been planned for such a long time, and now that it's out it's not even on THE DAMN PC!

Has to be WoW: Cataclysm. Ok it was released in '10 but still. Even I didn't think it was going to be that bad.

The biggest disappointment for me so far is that Level 5 keeps announcing all these other games... They keep saying "Don't worry guys, Dark Cloud 3 is coming out after this next game", and it never happens ; ;

MvC3.

Mostly due to how much Capcom intentionally left out of the game and how much they are charging for items that should have either been released, be free or at least have lower cost to add on.

Probably Bulletstorm so far. Depending on how it goes Deus Ex could top it, but let's hope not.
