I speak English and know a decent amount of French, but I'm a bit rusty at actually speaking it. I also know some basic German.

I speak English and French, and would like to learn at least one mid-eastern dialect. Farsi would be a good choice.
Yes, it would be. I grew up speaking English and Farsi.

If I got a refresher on both languages, I'd be trilingual. However, it's been quite a while since I've learned French and Spanish, so I don't speak either too well anymore.

English and German, seems to be a pattern... Perhaps we all started in highschool as well?

Being French Canadian, I can speak French and English, although I live in Ontario so English is my main form of communication.

I only speak French to
A) annoy people
B) pick up chicks
C) confuse tourists

I would at least be somewhat able to understand you.

Not yet, but I am teaching myself German. Sadly the progress is slow thus far.
^ Oddly enough, I'm in the same situation.

I've got a smidgeon of Japanese in my head too. I should really get round to learning it properly.
I wish we could practice together. It is always better with moire than one person. I really want to talk to hot German girls when I eventually get to Germany.

Do languages that no one uses anymore count? I'm taking Latin and Ancient Greek, so that would be three languages right there (including English). I also know enough French to get by and a fair bit of sign language.

Including English, I do know Russian. I'm not fluent, but I can easily hold a normal conversation with anyone.

P.S I am really surprised by how many people hear know German.

Amusing that you mention hot German girls. I'm learning *because* of a hot girl. Admittedly she's English, but she's in Germany atm so it seems like a good reason as any other to pick up a language. I hear they're helpful these days.

I know and am very good at the English language, which helps with Spanish. I'm in a class for Spanish, but I could probably communicate fairly easily with a Spanish-speaking person based on words I know, similarities between the languages, and knowledge of the words many English words are based on.

I dabbled in Latin (which also helps with Spanish a bit) a couple years ago, and I'm currently attempting to teach myself Russian. So far it's slow, but I'm doing fairly well, I think. I know the words for "yes," "no," "you," "without," "Russian," "American," "army," "baggage," and "grandmother." And I don't know how to make words plural, past tense, possessive, or any such-stuff like that, but I've only just started.

I want to learn Russian because one of my favorite bands, Aria, is Russian. My favorite author(s) (currently) are Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, who are Russian. And one of my favorite games is STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, which is based in a Russian-speaking area, despite its being set in Ukraine.

I would like to someday venture outside the US, so languages are important, and it's better to learn early.

English is my absolute obsession, if any of my posts on this forum are any indication.

I've also taken 9 years in French. All of my Elementary (Primary) school years, and middle (secondary). Stopped in High School, and it's waned with disuse. I can probably pick it up if I used it more.

Also, I'm proficient enough in Spanish to understand anything written or said, but certainly not well versed enough to respond.

So, quasi-Trilingual?

Oh, and I'm American, so I feel accomplished.
