There is supposed to be an end cinematic as a reward for hitting rank 40, I'm really surprised no one has posted it, I know when I had to quit on Friday me and a couple guys were within 10 levels of it (which you can honestly bang out in a day or so if you use cheap guns/ plasmids).

Edit: This really makes me wonder what the timeline of events in Rapture was. I mean your multiplayer character pretty much wakes up sometime right after the new year's party and I really don't think a huge chunk of time has pass between then and rank 40 when the first protagonist comes barreling in. This makes me wonder how bad things were in Rapture before the New Year's Party event happened. The first game gave the impression that people went nuts on New Years and Rapture slowly went down the hole after. But with this cinematic I get the impression that Rapture was already in a terrible terrible state and the New Year's party was just a small part of an already worse series of events.

I just reached level 40. You get a new mask, a melee axe, a new "perk" that lets you ressurect and a lame ass video.that is all

OT: I'm sure there's already some achievement list, guide and walkthrough on some wikia out there. Google is your friend. Otherwise just use your nose, the smell just might lead you there.

To clear the confusion going around:
When you reach level 40 you have a final cutscene presumably explaining what happens to the character you play as. It is similar to the prologue cutscene you get at the begining. That is what happens as far as I know, but I don't know what happens, since I'm only level 19...
