OH.
MY.
GOD.

This game is siiiiick. Great opening cinematic, deadly weapons, new foes, and a challenging boss fight in the form of the big sister. What is your most favorite addition to gameplay and what is your least? Favorite Weapon, plasmid, tonics the whole nine yards.
I know there are poeple who are probably already half-way through the story so what are the best plasmid/tonic combos for future reference? Share everything

Did this game live up to anyone else's expectations as it did mine?

[edit] Now that I've finished the game I have one thing er, two things to add...I don't remember the spider splicers being this deadly and the brutes are F***ing annoying!

I haven't played it much yet, but I have to say it's the ability to dual wield plasmids. It makes combat a little more hetic by managing two weapons at once while allowing you to come up with seperate strageties.

Very good so far (I'm at Fontaine Futuristics) But they really turned the difficulty up alot.

Totally agree, especially when defending the little sisters, splicers come from nowhere.

OT: I'm loving it at present, feels good to be back in rapture and seeing it even more chaotic than before. Winding up the splicers is also as fun as it ever was, except the brute ones, heralds back to the annoyance of Halo 2

Yeah you're right, the brutes are basically the "Big Daddys" of the splicers only they'll attack on sight.

Yeah, I've noticed the difficulty change too. Although, it might have something to do with the fact I'm playing on medium. In the first game, I only played on the easy setting. Also, I know the rivet gun is the "pistol" in this game but it feels a little underpowered even fully upgraded.

I bought it yesterday, and I thought it was ok. Although I thought the first one was much better, I finished this one much quicker (medium difficulty). The one thing I didn't like about was
The lack of a final boss fight. Come on, I got all the way to the last level and all they can do is send wave after wave of enemy at me? Come now, surely they could have chosen a better way to wrap up that game? And did anyone else feel a little ripped off when Tenenbaum was only in the first 2 minutes of game? What the hell happened, did she just get up and leave Rapture again?

All in all I'd give it about an 8.5. It was no where near as good as the first one (although the drill dash is the most fun game mechanic I've played in a while) it was still pretty good. Here's to hoping that they don't fuck up the third one.

I think it's pretty awesome. Single-player is much harder than the first game, but still very fun. Multiplayer is fun too, but not as much.

Interesting side-note: I was playing Multiplayer yesterday and someone called someone else a 'noob'. Dude, it's the first fucking day this game has come out. We are all noobs.

I like it.

It's more of an expansion pack than a sequel. Textures are unacceptably bad for a 2010 release.

Multiplayer is pretty drab so far.

It's a great sequel my only gripe is the crashing of the game without any aparent reason.
I've bought the game's special edition so it has nothing to do with it being an illegal copy.
I've updated my drivers and my directX (running win7 64bit btw) and my computer has enough power to run this game.

Ok I've just finished it and I'd say its a great game, not up to par with the first one but still one of the best FPS's I've played in a whileactually it's the best I've played that was released since the first one just eding over Far Cry 2. The gameplay is improved and the difficulty is much higher possibly a little too high at times but the instaheal balances it out.

Visually it's similar but different like how each of the levels in the first was visaully distinct but with common themes, except for two that were samey and placed back-to-back they were all fun to explore and while technically yeah they're not cutting edge I feel that art design trumps techical prowess and Bioshock 2 is a great example of why.

The game also has better moral choices than the frst with it also being three similar but subtly different choices (no idea how it affects the ending), also the ending was actually good this time and the plot holds itself together until the end. However the plot itself is dissapointing to be honest, while it's far better than what most games spew out it's nowhere near the level of the original. Theres a couple of neat surprises (Alexander the Great) and it was compelling enough for me to keep going to the end Lamb is no yan however and there's less Philosophy here. There's some and it's not bad but a few more recordings would have been nice.

I will note one other feature however that is the level design which is possibly the best I've seen for an FPS since Doom 2, not quite as free as Deus Ex or as well done linearity as Half-Life it's very good.

Unfortunately I found an easy way through involving bees and drill. Even on hard you can walk through relatively unhindered. Awesome game though.

And here's me thinking there were far too many recordings lying around. I often found myself finding another recording by the time the last one's finished and, most heinously, some villain would pipe in with his/her two cents regarding some important and revealing truth mid-track. And as for Philosophy - were you deafened (by Big Sisters?!) throughout the last bit of the game? Talk about going off on one (not you, HER)

For me the game was definitely more predictable. Thats how Bioshock worked - it reeled you in under false pretenses and then BAM! - the carpet is dragged from under and suddenly you're in an emotional shitstorm. Entire way through BS2 every possible twist was niggling at me constantly so I was stranded half immersed, half pondering where the eventual emotional turnover would be and sadly, in the end, I knew it wouldn't matter because I wasn't committing to it 100%

Overall i'd give it a 9 losing out the last point because Bioshock already gone done that

Like I said there's some but it's nowhere near as well done as the Objectivist deconstruction from the original. Like I said it's a long way above the majority of games but not up to te first. As for the diaries, the ones in Fontaine Futureistics and Persephone were well done but in other areas they felt somewhat lacking in an overall message.

I somewhat agree, I found myself more emotionally invested however, I felt your daughter was well done and served as a good hook to keep me progressing. However I kept waiting for a big twist that never came. However the whole Alexander the Great section was very well done in my opinion, it tied into the main story and the way it was told was excellent.

Just finished the section with Grace in it, and am so far loving it. The new weapons are very nice, and the big sisters are pretty darn challenging.
Until you drill dash 'em, that is!

Also, liking multiplayer, I guess.

I was sitting at home this evening minding my own business on the Escapist, when my brother came in and told me to look at QI (A show with Stephen Fry) on youtube. After watching the video I turned around to discuss it with him and there he was, holding a copy of Bioshock 2 for PS3. I was in awe. Bioshock 2 from absolutely nowhere. The opening was great although I couldn't help but feel that the textures looked a bit dated. Other than that it looks like it's going to be great fun. I just love the Rapture atmosphere.

That was my reasoning but fortunately I can get it from my own money now considering my brother got Bishock.
