The poll has it right so far. Mass Effect is the way to go. It makes Mass Effect 2 SOOOOO much more enjoyable (not that it's bad by itself). Bioshock is a fun game, but if you already know the twist, it sucks the fun right out of the game.
The DLC for Dragon Age: Origins is hit and miss. You should certainly get Shale and The Stone Prisoner. If you want a lot of gold, also get Golems. You get a Mace that you can sell for over three hundred gold in Origins. Warden's Keep is good for items and it gives you a place to store your stuff, instead of constantly fretting over what to keep and what to sell. Return to Ostagar has some good stuff too. Everything else is personal preference, although I enjoyed them all.

So yeah, that's the order I think you should follow: Mass Effect, Bioshock, DLC.

Mass Effect.

You already have 2, so getting 1 will allow you to have the full story and send a single character through both play-throughs.

The DLC for DA and ME2 is for the most part not worth it, some of them to the point of being utter garbage.
Bioshock is a damn great game, and a lot different to anything else out there.
Mass Effect 1 seems a bit unnecessary if you already have the 2nd, you might as well get a completely different game.

Yeah, go with Bioshock.

Mass effect. You get so much bang for your buck there. Not only that.. but playing the second without playing the first is like eating the frosting without eating the cake

If I were in your shoes, I'd get Mass Effect first. Reason being that ME3 will be coming out this winter, so now would actually be a great time to catch up with the whole series. Go ahead and get your perfect playthrough with that game, and of course buy most of the DLC that goes with ME2. Mainly Kasumi: Stolen Memory, Project Overlord, Lair of the Shadow Broker, and Arrival. Pricey, yes, but it all adds to the huge galaxy and story that is the Mass Effect series.

Then get yourself some Bioshock whenever you can after that. I'd suggest you skip the sequel, but that's just a matter of personal taste I suppose.

Sooo...good luck with your purchases!

Mass Effect was one of the best purchases I ever made, I recommend you get it too.

Mass Effect. Bioshock wasn't all that people make it out to be. Yeah, it was ok but it was pretty much "My First: First Person Shooter". No challenge at all, the story was pretty good bu nothing you need to play through the rest of it for (just watch the cutscenes on Youtube for free) but the setting was nice. I really felt that Bioshock just wanted to tell the story and threw the gameplay on top of it justify selling a CGI movie for $60.

At least Mass Effect felt like a game.

What a strange question, the answer is of course Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
If you must buy one of those three (or you already own VtM:B), I say Mass Effect, but I thought Bioshock was crap (SS2 spoiled it for me I guess), a pretty looking, very average shooter.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is well worth it in my opinion, but Mass Effect (the original) is probably one of the top 5 games in the history of the genre.

Eh. It's a win-win situation. They're both really good games.

If you like ME2 then you basically own it to yourself to play ME1. Even though it isn't as good.

If you like games with good stories then you basically owe it to yourself to play BIoshock.

So yeah, buy one then buy the other one later.

Sort of hard to say.

I honestly find ME1 to be a bit clunky after playing 2. Despite all the belly-aching about how they stripped out so much of the complexity, there definitely was an upshot to streamlining the game and it's hard to go back. That said, getting the chance to play through the whole Mass Effect experience with transfers between them (and eventually to 3) is probably worth it at some point.

Bioshock is an amazing game. A unique setting, a truly great story, and really memorable characters do a lot to recommend it. If you're looking for something new, that might be a better bet, and hold off on ME1 until later.

As for DLC, if you wanted to spend much less money right now, Lair of the Shadow Broker was, to me, probably better than all the rest of ME2. It's got all of the improved gameplay of ME2, but with the more fantastic locations and sense of mystery that ME1 had going for it.

If you're looking for an FPS, then BioShock is the only one of those that is one.

If you're looking for a lengthy game, then Mass Effect is the only one of those that is one.

Mass Effect is, however, better.

[sub]I don't know what the DA2 DLC is[footnote][sub]Exiled Prince? Pass.[/sub][/footnote], but DA:O DLC isn't that great, except for Shale. Can't comment on the Empire DLC, since I've never tried it.

If you've got ME2, then by all means spend that money on the original. It's a better game, and it'll broaden your understanding of the plot.

Mass Effect wasn't all that good, the DLC for DA:O and ME:2 wasn't worth it in my opinion, and Bioshock is an absolutely wonderful game.

Go for Bioshock.
