As much as VS threads should die, I will take part in this one.

I voted for Black Mesa because they unleashed hell. Aperture Science has a sadistically hilarious AI, but that's pretty much it, apart from the fact that it's Earth's only safe haven from the Combine. Not that it's safe in any other way.

Apeture.

Glados made me lol more times than Dr Kliener (Spelling?) and that other guy, issac or whatever.

If it was Portal V Half Life...I would go Half Life coz of Alex Vance...Any game with her wins hands down. and tbh, the half life style of just running around with sprint glued down and not using cover ever is so much fun. Shame doesnt work too well for Call of Duty...

Aperture Science offers cake. Black Mesa is a government facility, so chances are once you enter, they will never let you leave ever again. Not too cool.
Besides, you wouldn't meet Gordon Freeman, because as soon as he arrives, the place went straight to hell/space.
THE CAKE IS A LIE!

(sorry, had to be said...)

And Gordon Freeman doesn't just arrive when the resonance cascade happens. The fact that everyone there knows him shows that he's been working there for some time before that.

Black Mesa. One reason being the commute in the morning. Aperture Science looks like its in the pacific northwest or something so you get to the office by driving.

Black Mesa you get a cool as hell monorail.

gordon freeman couldn't take glados not by a long shot
Have you learned nothing from all the Half-Life games? Gordon freeman never dies. And even if he's about to, some old friend pops up and patches you up :D

Glados loses

Well, in Black Mesa you did have to wear those ridiculous ties...

But in Aperture Laboratories, an insane computer slaughtered every parent on 'Bring your Daughter in to work' day and kept all the girls for 15 years.

Having been to a Catholic School before, I'll go with Black Mesa. Far less trouble.

It just occurred to me; the Black Mesa Incident (BMI. Hey, wait a second) is why cooler than the Aperture Science Incident (ASI). While both created a hero, only the BMI had consequences for someone beyond that hero. Also, it created a hero who, while he uses some new-fangled tech, only needs a crowbar, while the hero from the ASI needs a one-of-a-kind portal gun to stand a chance.
But who'd you rather sleep with, huh, huh?
Yup, because Gordon Freeman is absolutely the only protagonist of Half Life and Alyx Vance has never existed. Oh, wait.

Hard choice. I'm with Black Mesa for the simple reason that they didn't hook a Super-AI into their security systems, which makes them smarter than Apature. Probably still be alive if not for the wierd accident.

Black mesa... but that's only because some of them actually survived. All of the people in aperture science were killed.

So that's what happened with Aperture Science? I honestly didn't know that, because I never played portal. (Shame on me..I actually got my TF2 as a stand alone game!)
I'm intrigued. Now I really need to find out more about Portal's story.

Aperture Laboratories. I would invent GlaDOS, or at least those awesome turrets. Who cares if it's to the detriment of humanity?

Aperture Science is the the clear winner. Portal technology just sounds so much more fun to test out.

You can now get it on xbox live arcade as a stand alone game. Its a great experience, one the few perfect games (most lightly because of how short it is, just long enough to get the hang of portal technology, not so long that it becomes boring)

Yeah, sure, Alyx is hot and all... But she's not Black Mesa. This isn't about the universes, it's about the companies.

And no, neither Freeman nor any of the Vances are protagonists in Half-life. Alyx shows some signs of it in Episode 2, but none of the other characters ever fit (neither does Chel for that matter). A protagonist is a non-static character, one that changes over the course of the story, one that grows, evolves. While there's plenty of antagonists on both sides, there's not a single protagonist in the series.

Both do science in differend ways.

Aperature Science is only profit orientated and all was focused on the Portal gun. When you work there you've got a deadline for everything, you need to work 110% all the time and only do things that benefit the project.
=> commerce

Black Mesa is way more relaxed, they do stuff and see what will hapens. if somebody has a brilliant idea he might go to his bos (or the g-man) and ask kindly if he can build a masive energy beam cannon to shot at some cristals and he might have his lucky day (followed by a lot of unlucky ones if aliens start to apear)
=> progress

Aperature might offer you more money and a clean office but black mesa offers you to realise your potential genious so i have to go with Black Mesa.

So in VALVe's wonderful world of rivaling science labs, but if you had to work for one, which would it be. For Aperture, assume that its before GLaDOS went haywire. Same thing with Black Mesa, this takes place before any resonance cascade.

I pick Black Mesa. Half-Life implies that it had some pretty good benefits while working there, plus I'd get to hang with Gordan Freeman!
Actually, the resonsance cascade happended because of Gordan Freeman, so If you would have worked before the cascade there would be no Freeman.

However, I would work for Aperature. Nicer and cleaner and enviroment than Black Mesa.

Look at us, still posting when there's science to do. We've experiments to run, and there's research to be done!
