I've only read the Odyssey, but I really can't think of any suitable boss fights. You could make the end fight with the suitors one, but otherwise, Odysseus outsmarts everybody, be it Polyphemus or Circe.SecondPrize said:The Iliad and the Odyssey. It's perfect. They're the definition of epic. Plenty of boss fights all ready to go too.
The fall of Malkier! It could make a legendary game, great setting, characters, story, a bittersweet ending. You Can said:I want an open world, Elder Scrolls style game based on Wheel of Time. Something set completely outside of the books` time line so that it can have an original story. With the well established magic and combat systems a huge, open, third-person game would be epic.
Scylla could make for a good boss. Her tentacles would eat a crewmate if you didn't kill them in time. And you would be nearly deaf between the wax in your ears and Odysseus yelling at the top of his lungs, so you'd have to be on guard in all directions at all times. At the end, you can get an achievement or something for saving so many crewmates or for losing exactly six crewmates.Da Orky Man said:I've only read the Odyssey, but I really can't think of any suitable boss fights. I suppose you could have Hector as a boss, fighting as Ajax.
It's video games. You'd be stabbing cyclops in eyes, wrestling charybdis, smacking sirens around. They'd only hold true to the poem in that the characters are there, then they'd have you stab em.Da Orky Man said:I've only read the Odyssey, but I really can't think of any suitable boss fights. While these would be really cool to see, they would devolve into the same crap as God of War or Dantes Inferno where they just destroy the lore and subject material.SecondPrize said:The Iliad and the Odyssey. It's perfect. They're the definition of epic. Plenty of boss fights all ready to go too.
Most definitely, While I absolutely love the Harry Potter series no-one wants to play a game that is basically a movie tie in version. While some have actually been pretty decent the whole selling point is the world building, and mysterious nature of Hogwarts etc. Give me an open world/RPG where I can have my own character explore hogwarts or make it an MMO where one faction is death eaters and the other is Aurors or whatever, have both factions have the same starting location at hogwarts.BloatedGuppy said:Most of the popular book series have already been heavily mined by the video game industry, but there are a few places I could see where they haven't reached their full potential.
2. HOGWARTS. Some kind of quality RPG that let you play your own multi-year adventure as a wizard at Hogwarts, completely distinct from the events of the Potter novels.
But, if it's only the first 3 books, then we wouldn't get to play the Dropsite Massacre! Or the Burning of Prospero. Or the Battle of Calth. Or The Signus campaign. Or the 2 dozen other awesome battles that take place in the series.Diddy_Mao said:I'm gonna be "that guy" and say the first 3 books of the Horus Heresy as an action RPG.
Just playing through the exterminatus of Istvan would be worth the price of admission.
Came here specifically to say Wheel of Time and Night Angel. According to wikipedia Obsidion is supposed to have a WoT game in development, but I've never seen anything about it anywhere else.iwinatlife said:Id love a good RPG or RTS around Wheel of Time, Night angel Trilogy would make a stealth game i would actually try to play stealthy(versus my brawling mace weilding Ezio ,or my psychopathic Corvo).
I've been toying with the idea of getting that game. Is it any good?Gatx said:This is the only Game of Thrones game that anyone will ever need.Glongpre said:Game of Thrones
Lord of the Rings
So much great material to use. Lotr has a couple good games at best, they can do way better.

beware of the hospitality of freys XPZac Jovanovic said:There's a pretty good GoT mod for Mount & Blade Warband too, it's called Clash of Kings.Smashingpass said:You might want to try the Game of Thrones mod for Crusader Kings II, and Lego Lord of the Rings (don't let the name put you off, how many games let you explore Middle-Earth as Tom Bombadil?) respectively.
I worked my way up as a mercenary for Riverrun, then I declared war on the Iron Islands, took one of their castles and made my own faction. Married Great Jon Umber's granddaughter to secure an alliance with the North and now I'm defending against the Lannisters and the Ironborn with the North and Riverlands on my side![]()
These three are the most brilliant ideas ever. Seriously. Someone needs to make these games NOW.BloatedGuppy said:Most of the popular book series have already been heavily mined by the video game industry, but there are a few places I could see where they haven't reached their full potential.
1. TOTAL WAR: WESTEROS. Yes, we have a mod, but a proper game with proper implementation of all the differing elements would, I feel, be an almost guaranteed hit, especially if they beefed up the politics/lineage side of things.
2. HOGWARTS. Some kind of quality RPG that let you play your own multi-year adventure as a wizard at Hogwarts, completely distinct from the events of the Potter novels.
3. DRESDEN FILES. A serial adventure game released in episodes, with survival horror/classic adventure style game play.
