Typically it depends on the game, my weapon, and other factors. When I'm sniping in TF2 I go for the headshot - it's the most efficient way to use the bullet. When I'm playing say BC2, or a singleplayer FPS, I usually go for a few headshots to thin mobs down, then I go for bodyshots with an SMG - because you're much more likely to hit the chest, with an SMG you can do it with many bullets in quick succession, so it normally puts the target down as fast as a headshot, with a much higher chance of success. Ultimately, I'm more about taking my enemy out as efficiently and as quickly as possible with the highest chance of success than about doing it in a specific way.

Headshots show skill and are an instant kill in most games. This is because the head is the smallest and most chance of missing the target all together when aim at it.But as in real life a bullet to the brain will put enemies down.

The way i shoot if i dont get the time to aim is target the torso of the target and move up quickly to the head as this does several things.First it hurts the player that will make it easier to kill also if the first few shots do not kill the headshot deffinly will. Also while being hit by bullets it makes it harder for the enemy to aim and shoot you.

Oh god, I love headshots. Even if the odds suck in Fallout 3, I still go for the headshot. It's so gratifying when you finally shoot the head off some dude.
Seconded, it's more amazinger with Bloody Mess..

and for Online FPS, I can do em, I like em, I just tend to want to get the job done, so I avoid trying to do them.

Oh, I just got that perk the other day! Nothing more satisfying than watching a super mutant explode into several bloody bits! ;D

I am generally no longer good enough in shooters to always pull them off anymore. I just don't play enough to really nail someone every time.

Kind of sad, but I guess it is good that I am doing other things too.

I love head shot in games!! But as youi said, I also don't like them when its like a pistol headshot form like a .50 cal position.
however this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vacJS327IFY] is pretty cool.

Battlefield Bad Company 2, Sniper, headshots are fun ^^ also the bullet drops in the game, so you have to aim over the head of your victim, soo... its hard sometimes when its across the map :p thats what makes it fun

How could headshot be overpowered? And this thread has everything to do with those things. I love 'em. Hitting the head is the most pleasant.

I love me headshots ^^
I hate when i headshot someone but he doesn't die. I mean on harder levels, some games just raise the life and the firepower of your enemies, so they die with 2-3 headshots. I can understand monsters with no heads or monsters who has their brains in their asses, but humans should die when they are killed. Yes.

YOU CAN'T HEADSHOT WITH A SHOTGUN FROM 50 METERS AWAY, CSS!!
Umm, you mean counter strike source right? if so then you're pretty wrong about that. Shotguns aren't effective over that sort of range because the shot spreads out, and to kill with a head shot from a shot gun virtually all of the shot needs to hit the head even at point blank (assuming kevlar helmet).

I said yes, but for the record, you didn't make a "i hate them" option
Yes I did. It's the 3rd option.

I'm actually surprised no one picked it though...

I think headshots are always hugely satisfying arent they? They are a mark of skill and you see that enemy go down super-quick (unless its got silly difficulty or armoured helmets). Personally I always go for the headshot, unless the game has some severely wobbly aiming mechanic or I am getting a shitty frame-rate for some reason.

Borderlands, getting a headshot with revolvers was extremely rewarding. Sub-machine guns I try to aim about the upper chest / neck and let the recoil 'walk' you onto a headshot finish.

Especially as i only have a 4:3, 17" monitor, I take extra pride in pulling off headshots :)

Ehh... I really don't like them. I like to be able to survive a shot, no matter where it lands, even if it means I can't get headshots myself.

I like how Team Fortress 2 handles it: only the Sniper's Rifle and Huntsman and the Spy's Ambassador can headshot, and, even then, it's only a guaranteed critical hit; if the rifle or bow aren't charged enough, even a headshot won't kill everything in one shot. Bodyshots are also very effective with the rifle because a fully-charged shot will do 150 damage, which means it will kill a Scout, an Eyelander Demoman with no heads collected, a Medic, Sniper and Spy in one shot, no matter where it hits, assuming they're not over-healed.
