I have played borderlands A LOT. I've defeated crawmerax, cleansed jakobs cove, destroyed the destroyer and shut down the clap-trap revolution and all the way through have been treated to some of the funniest in-game dialog this side of portal. My most loved lines come from the secret armory dlc; with general knoxx spurting some of the funniest lines ever! also the characters of scooter, mad moxxi, the two soldiers (Derrick), and mr shank are also funny as hell.

so what do you lots think?
and what are your most loved lines?

It is pretty damn funny, except the Claptrap DLC wasn't really that funny, surprisingly. The engorge commercials almost made me fall out of my chair the first time I heard them.

It has its moments, certainly, but alot of the time its behind the large maps, which may or may not be a bad thing.

It's kind of... Meh.

I didn't find it funny. Let's take the Saints Row series, it had funny gameplay, funny characters, funny plot, and a funny backstory.

All that Borderlands succeeds is funny cut-scenes, as for the characters, there's a difference between "Funny" and "Annoying."

There were a couple laughs had, but it's not a hilarious game by any stretch of the imagination.

There is a lot of humor put into Borderlands, enjoyable humor. General Knoxx was one of the better characters of all time with the best humor. God I love the general Knoxx DLC. And they add some cleverness into it too, including my ever so beloved Space Balls references like Ludicrous Speedway. And Tannis' later ECHO recordings were always funny to listen to. Come to think of it, the humor is more injected into the characters. Look at Mr. Shank, General Knoxx, Tannis, TK Baja, Crazy Earl, Athena (gets credit for using the ENGORGE! ads), Marcus. (Any other characters I missed?) They all have humor built into their personalities which makes them more enjoyable.

It's funny most of the time, I especially liked the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (who is definitely not his brother Zed with a fake mustache).

The boss taglines are great too.

Its a funny game, for sure. Not the funniest game I own, but it definitely has its moments.

The first time I played Brick and engaged his berserker mode, my friend and I were falling out of our chairs in hysterics because of those awesome flipping out noises he makes. Not really a line, but I still get the giggles just thinking about it.

heh, awesome, my Pandora started playing Ain't No Rest for the Wicked as I started typing this. Pandora, bless your insight into my life :D

I was honestly pissing myself laughing while my husband was playing through the General Knox thing.

Aside from that, yeah, it definitely has its moments. Its nice to have all that shooty stuff broken up by a few giggles and ENGORGE! adverts.

The game tries too hard and fails horribly to make me laugh at all. Then again, I'm ten years older than the "average" gamer (26, not 16). I hate my friends a little for making me buy it and play it with them.

Not to come off as snobby, but I find humor good when it's subtle. In contrast to Borderlands, I find all of GTA4 (probably semi intentionally), HK-47 (thus my avatar choice), or Smash Brothers Brawl story mode (probably unintentionally) to be pretty funny.

No.

I loved the game. I'm a sucker for coop games, and it has really fun gameplay that I have a blast going through with friends. We've played through the game several times and through all of the content.

But the game fails to make any of us laugh with what was obviously meant to make us laugh and comes off as annoying, and just makes my eyes roll. We're not high strung people, we don't laugh with the game, but rather at it. Most of the genuine humor we have in BL comes from the inadvertent videogame stupidity. Like the time that my friend playing as Brick accidentally punched Clint Eastwood right off his crane and killed him. That was hilarious. Or when we fought the Destroyer and he turned out to be a total pussy. That was also hilarious.

Other stuff which was meant to be humorous strike me as complete misses. Such as the Claptraps, those things are awful. No thanks. The boss "taglines" as neither funny, or quirky. When we ran into Knoxx, and his tagline was "Doesn't like mondays! ^_^!!!"

Me and my friends in unison: "LOL WHO DOES LIKE MONDAYS!?!? A HURRR HURRR HURRRRRRRRRR."

The game was good regardless of it's failure to please me with any of it's unbearable writing. And I would like to see some kind of a sequel for it, although I won't hold my breath for any humor.
