I'm the Peanut Gallery. If some Nerd-Rager's yelling and giving orders, I'm the one in the back making snide comments and throwing popcorn.

Doesn't mean I won't follow directions given in a cool, calm, collected and logical manner to achieve victory, but you start raging, and I'm getting a beer to sit back and enjoy the show with.

I just tell them to wind their necks in.

"Go do that"
"wind your neck in"

Works for me.

Bossy people who encouter me in games tend to end up at the bottom of the river, or something equivalent to that. AKA, they don't do very well around me and usually end up getting whacked.

I tend to Ignore Bossy people unless they are calm and ask if they can give me an order.

I love playing L4D2 online but....i cant stand the uptight people that i sometimes get grouped with.
Though im actually really good at L4D, so after a while if surviving on my own, they tend to leave me alone and just following me around.

My only experience in that would be Guild Wars Faction battles, and it really boils down to obnoxious people yelling DON'T KILL PEOPLE CAPTURE CHECK POINTS... which is hard to do if people are trying to kill [i/]you[/i]. So I ignore them.

It usually depends on how the orders are given out. If it's through text and it's not all in caps, I take it as a suggestion. If I'm new to the game, I'd be more likely to try that suggestion out, because for all I know it might be a viable strategy. I keep doing this until I know what I'm doing, and then I can ignore the orders again until I find another tricky situation.

If it's through voice chat and it's calmly spoken, I'll also react well to it and maybe even follow it. If the person's yelling or typing in all caps, then that person should go play a single-player game where they can have full control over everything.

I'm always afraid of offending people, and I keep from initiating conversations, so if I know what I'm doing in a game, I never tell anyone what to do unless someone asks or looks completely lost.

Communication is good, and I try to do a lot of it. Sometimes people interpret this as me giving orders/being bossy, but it's not like my advice is BAD. It's usually stuff like "They've got the flag going over the left side. I can flank them, but someone else has to cut them off."

However when people are just complete dipshits, who run headfirst into enemy fire, and die, then complain that people are letting him down, when really we're all doing exactly what we're supposed to, that pisses me off.

Depends. Sometimes, you run into people who know more about a game than you do and it's simply smart to follow their lead (assuming you like winning). However, for most Armchair Napoleons I just run on ignore mode. I'm usually too busy actually playing the game to go into detailed discussions with them.

However, that doesn't mean communication is bad. The multiplayer game I've been playing a lot recently is League of Legends. For the most part, experienced players need very little bossing around in an average match, since the basic flow of battle is common knowledge. However, it is quite important to notify your teammates when an opponent goes missing, since it can often mean they are setting up a kill elsewhere. Failing to call a "miss" is usually grounds to get screamed at.

I usually ignore them. It annoys the kiddies no end when the target of their frustration doesn't care. I'll begrudgingly go along with what they're saying when it's the right thing to do anyway, but the moment they start saying that the reason we got through was because they told us all how I'll shoot them right down.

I've encountered many, and they're the reason why I tend to only ever play online games with people I have played with before, if my steam friends list gets wiped...I'll probably quit online play forever.

There's nothing worse than someone bossing you around on a game when you're trying to relax after work. If someone gives me tactical advice in a respectful manner...I'll listen and try to take it on board. But moaners will get muted or possibly team killed.

If they are giving good advice and calling out good things I will go with what they are saying. If they are trying to micromanage everything and getting super pissed if you don't do everything exactly how they want you to I'll yell at them and start doing everything I can to piss them off so that they will leave the game.

It depends on the person. If I know that the person is experienced, I'll do as he says. If it's just some random guy giving out terrible orders, I'll usually be the one that steps in and tells him that he's bad and should shut up. This only applies to MMORPGs though. I never play FPS games online.

I usually just ignore them.
This one time playing AVP on infestation this kid started trying to organise groups of humans to set up defence points, I ignored him and stayed did my own thing. After a few rounds which I won he was still giving orders to everyone but he started treating me like I was his commander and told people to follow me if they want to survive. It was fun for a bit though, especially when he started as the Alien and all the dudes who were following his commands didn't know what to do now that he was on the opposite team, watching them all frenzy about was quite fun.
